14/08/2026: Five Rock in Skerries was fantastic. Amazing food and a lovely, relaxed atmosphere.
The waitstaff are beyond friendly. So helpful and welcoming. The kind of service that really makes a place.
The chef is seriously good too. I asked for anchovies with my chicken Caesar salad and he prepared them specially for me. Super cool chef and excellent food.
And best of all, they have their own beer. No Diageo vanilla here. I wish more bars and restaurants would do the same and offer something local and different.
Great food, great people, great beer. We’ll definitely be back.
03/08/2026: They don’t actually want children in this restaurant. They just don’t want the hassle of denying them. On arrival I was told no buggies. Despite the restaurant being literally empty I was informed they couldn’t make an exception for my sleeping 9 month old. I then conceded and asked for a high chair to which I was informed they have no high chairs. As a result we sat out in their ‘courtyard’ with barking dogs and a sleeping child - that didn’t last long. When ordering for my other child I was informed they dont have printed children’s menus. All of this to say they don’t want kids in this restaurant. They aren’t welcoming and treat them like second class citizens. What do you want? I take my child out and have no where to put them but I can’t keep them in their pram seat. It’s pathetic. Policy is all well and good but have a solution. How do you seat a 1 and a half year old child who doesn’t need a buggy but can’t sit at a table in a regular chair. It’s unfathomable. I’m genuinely disgusted. To pay €168 for 2 burgers, 1 fish and chips and a couple of appetisers and my child to be treated like this is disrespectful.
I appreciate an adults only atmosphere. I have 2 kids but I have zero issue with places they aren’t welcome when it’s clearly communicated. It makes environments more enjoyable for adults in certain circumstances but don’t pretend they’re welcome and then have no where for them to sit and make it a problem that we have them with us. Absolutely ridiculous. I’d never frequent another blue bar restaurant again out of principle.
