05/07/2025: Horrible is an understatement to how bad the experience was, I never leave reviews that harm the business or reviews full stop, but this restaurant was just…wow. We came here for dinner to celebrate someone’s birthday with some family friends, so there was 9 of us total. First off, one of the servers spilt a pint of MiWadi all over my brother. This is completely understandable, accidents happen and we’ve all worked in the industry before so we did not blame the server at all. When I say he was soaked I mean my father had to take him back home to change clothes and come back, what did they offer as compensation? Oh a complimentary dry clean of course. I’m not saying anything really needed to be offered but that just felt like a slap to the face, did they want an 11 year old to strip off in the middle of the restaurant so they can clean his clothes? Hilariously, the least they could have done was I don’t know, give us the MiWadi for free maybe? But laughably they still charged us 50c for it. Couldn’t even spare 50c after dropping a drink on a child and causing them to leave for 30 mins to go home and get changed. Don’t even get me started on the service. I’ve had better service at places a quarter of the cost, hell, I’ve had better service ANYWHERE but here. We were only approached by the servers a total of TWO times. Once to take our order and another to bring out our order. Throughout the dining experience NOT ONCE did anyone approach us asking how the meal was, to clear our plates (our table was incredibly cluttered and we had to play Tetris to fit everything as a result) , or even to refill our water (3 jugs between 9 people…we ran out pretty fast). Again, this is our first time dining at such a “high end, fine dining” restaurant, and by no means am I saying this is what servers must do, we’ve all worked in the industry but it was just SO BLATANT that we were being avoided like the plague. All other tables were being catered to except us, this was incredibly obvious. It doesn’t help that we were the only non-white table in the restaurant…doesn’t exactly help with appearances or implications does it? My brother wanted dessert but too bad, no one ever approached us to ask once we’d finished our meal or to even clear away the dishes. We were treated as if we were the problem (we had done absolutely nothing) even though they were the ones constantly messing up and OVERCHARGING us €188 euros???!?! Oh yeah let me get to this part. Being overcharged double the actual bill. So my father went to pay the bill and being the non confrontational nor problem causing person he is, he payed it without question and tucked the receipt into his wallet and sat down. He didn’t discuss the price nor even explain how much the total bill was. It wasn’t until I asked him how much he payed a few minutes later out of curiosity did I realise he had been scammed sorry I mean charged 384.50 FOR 8 MAIN COURSES AND 1 STARTER. Completely absurd. The receipt stated 9x 2 Course Dinners. At this point, I’m questioning their ability to count considering how 8 main courses can become 9 mysteriously. My friend approached one of the servers and did not give out about the price, but merely asked the server to break down the cost of the meal for her. Only then did they realise it was wrong AFTER HE HAD PAYED AND WE WERE ABOUT TO LEAVE??? Took them another 15 minutes to solve this issue (proof in the receipt times in the photo I have attached) and guess what, they had overcharged us an ABSURD 188 EURO, almost DOUBLE the actual bill of 197.50. How does a mistake of this magnitude happen? Charging an extra dish by mistake I understand but 188 euros? Inexcusable. The apologies for such a mistake were severely lacking. Heard one “sorry”. When I have worked in customer service I have given out complimentary food for far less and usually with the dialogue or “my sincere apologies I am so sorry for this mistake we will try to make it up to you, again, I am so sorry”. But did we get any of this after all these errors after errors? Nope just one “sorry” and it felt like we were ostracised and looked down upon like this was our fault. This experience was honestly so laughable and almost humiliating. Don’t worry we are never stepping foot near this place and have already told multiple people of this experience to dissuade them from going.
01/03/2025: The food was absolutely fantastic. We could not fault the menu. It catered for everyone. The service was unbelievable. The girls were really friendly and helpful. Rachel made sure that we were looked after from the minute that we came in. I would definitely recommend booking in here if you are staying here or even if you are in Ennis for a night.
