The best restaurants in Thurles

25/10/2025: Breakfast at Cusack’s bar – 24th October We visited Cusack’s for breakfast around 11:10 a.m. on the 24th of October. To start with the positives — the lady who took our order was absolutely lovely. She was attentive, pleasant, and genuinely made us feel welcome. She truly deserves appreciation for her service. The food did take a little while to arrive, which was completely understandable given how busy the place was. The disappointment began when the food was served. My poached egg looked fine on the outside but was actually hard-boiled inside, had an awful taste of just vinegar, and the avocado was dark and clearly past its best. The overall quality just wasn’t what we’ve come to expect from Cusack’s, which has always been one of our favourite breakfast spots in Ireland. What really surprised us, though, was what happened towards the end. While we were still having a conversation and my wife still had her cutlery in hand, one of the senior staff members came over and began clearing the plate mid-conversation. She did ask if it was okay to clear, but she was already holding the plates stacked up before we could even respond. It felt a bit abrupt and left us both a little uncomfortable. To be clear, the gentleman working alongside her was perfectly polite and not involved in this. We genuinely like this place and have always enjoyed coming here, which is why this visit was disappointing. Most of the team are excellent at what they do, but it would be great if everyone could be on the same page, because small things like this can unintentionally take away from the otherwise great work of a wonderful team.

17/10/2025: Old but nice hotel. Rooms are clean. Food is very good. Breakfast is from menu and very good. Dinner is also amazing.

06/11/2025: Right after we entered the establishment, our group, consisting of 1 man and 3 women, was deliberately forced to leave by the person behind the counter. Deliberately racist act. Totally inappropriate. The gentleman, despite being rude, clearly displayed racism, perhaps because we are not Irish.

10/07/2025: Beautiful pub with very friendly staff.

11/11/2025: Have had a few contaminated cups of coffee in here. I mean, you would give any establishment a chance.

10/09/2025: Coffee is delicious and the cakes amazing. The staff are lovely.

16/02/2025: Tempura prawns are amazing. Teriyaki chicken ramen was one of THE BEST I've ever had. Will be back every time I'm in London.

15/02/2025: Really nice place, the pork ramen was delicious and owner is very friendly and accommodating :)

13/09/2025: Good food reasonably priced nice atmosphere and friendly staff. Best value in Thurles. Pity they don't serve food at weekends.

22/08/2025: Called for lunch and ordered burger and chips. There was no one ahead of me but people came in after me and they got served. I waited 40 minutes and I complained to a member of staff but got no real response. I left very disappointed as it looked like a real nice pub. I have only an hour for lunch like most people 😔

12/12/2025: The manager is as rude as they come!

28/11/2025: No way is the food good. Chicken is dry, tasteless. Same with the chips. And the prices mirrors the behaviour of the bank.

28/09/2025: Soup was cold and food was forgotten about. Food taste wasn’t great and very over priced for what it is. 2 x toasted sandwiches and one toastie combo with 3 drinks was over €32.

11/09/2025: Absolutely shocking worse food I ever had !!!! Hard on way going in and going to be twice as bad on way out !! For that reason stay wide !!

09/07/2025: Be careful when ordering because you might get scammed like I did today. I went to Apache to order a rooster wrap meal, but I wanted dynamite fries instead of the plain fries the meal comes with. The guy said that they can't do that, but I can get the dynamite fries separately, and I said that's fine. I expected to get the wrap and the dynamite fries instead of the plain fries. When I ordered my food, the guy charged me 18 euros, and I already realized that something isn't right, because 18 euros for one wrap and one order of dynamite fries? When my food came, I realized that the guy charged for the wrap, the dynamite fries AND the plain chips that came with the wrap meal (which I didn't want, I wanted the dynamite fries instead of them). So basically, I got charged for plain chips, which I didn't want, I wanted the dynamite fries instead of the plain chips that came with the meal. Be careful when you order and be extra clear about what you want. I probably won't be returning here, I'll be going to the Supermac's across the street because there the cashiers have a better understanding of your order, and also you can customize the chips that come with your meal without any issues.

18/12/2025: Vindaloo chicken for those enjoying spicy, flavourful food. Big dish. Plenty of food. For takeaway. Couldn't even finish it. Perfect!

26/11/2025: Ordered a pick up. Very disappointed when I got home pilu rice had burnt onions in it, the sauce on the meal was minimal and the meat was dry. I was surprised as the food is always top notch here. Just a one off I hope.
