Very good, a gastronomy area, but not very elaborate. Family service.

Just had a fab 3 nights BB and Dinners at this wonderful townhouse. the food was spectacular - Cod, Crab, prawns, great sides and home made potato chips. the staff are wonderful, so helpful, friendly and game for the bit of craic!! John & David are very helpful, friendly and lovely hosts. we had a great 4 days - choices are just unbelievable, great atmosphere as lots of visitors. Well worth a visit for that special occasion or just to spoil yourself!! thank you all for a lovely time 13-16 June. C u soon Ann & Gordon

Excellent food, friendly service

My mother, father and I were weary from a long day traveling from Dublin. My father's family is from Cork which was where we were headed. Driving through Youghal I noticed a sign on the left for Ahernes Seafood. I pulled the car in and John Aherne met us at the door to his restaurant. Mr. Aherne is a gracious and funny Irish host. He seated us and chatted awhile then offered a few exceptional seafood recommendations. My mom's wine was outstanding and our Guinness was well poured. (Sidenote - I almost got my hand slapped in a pub in Dublin when I reached out to grab my stout. The bartender laughed and said, "people have been hanged for less." I learned how a Guinness is correctly poured that day!) I became an expert on the pour by trips end. I ordered the catch of the day salmon dinner and wanted to lick the plate clean. My dad is from landlocked Midwestern U.S. so he hasn't enjoyed many fresh ocean catches. He had a big smile on his face after his delicious sea scallops dinner. We weren't going anywhere after that great meal and checked in to Ahernes Inn. We opened the doors to our rooms and saw stylish Georgian furniture and a tastefully decorated suite. Minutes later - a lot of snoring going on.

High quality seafood restaurant. Both of us chose risottos: I had monkfish on a seafood risotto; my wife, scallops on a vegetable risotto. Both really good.
