An Poitin Still in Carrick-on-shannon

Called in at lunchtime, food was great as was the service

Brilliant time meeting up with Family. Food was great and service amazing. Thanks also to the staff for a great day.

The food here is great and reasonably priced. The service was very efficient from the waitresses on duty and the bar itself has a lot of charm. But I can’t say that it was all a good experience. We visited one afternoon recently with my husband and children. At the bar he ordered a Guinness and wine for myself with soft drinks for the kids while we decided what food to order. The young lady behind the bar was lovely, served us promptly and dropped some of the drinks over to our table. After she returned to the bar, I heard another member of staff (an older girl with glasses) say to her that “it’s a disgrace they’re drinking this time of the day with children.” This remark was rude and uncalled for and she said it very loudly across the bar to her colleague. It made an otherwise lovely experience unpleasant. I am kind of annoyed at myself for staying after that remark. In spite of this, I would recommend An Poitin Still but would recommend that member of staff show more respect to customers in future.
