The best restaurants in Leitrim

05/07/2026: I had looked forward to a good steak and nice experience at the restaurant based on most reviews. My spouse and I were disappointed. The chicken wings (Thai chili) were exceptional. Very crispy. The steaks , one a full sirloin and the other a sandwich were a little tough and nothing special. We had to ask for steak knives (which we needed). There were lots of fried onions and musrooms. My dessert, the cheese cake with ice cream and chocolate sauce was very good. There was music ( Sunday evening) which was very good yet it was too loud and make it difficult to talk with table mates. Service was ok, but it is disappointing to have to ask for a steak knife. But it was loud and that made it difficult to talk to the server. I wouldn't put this restaurant on my regular rotation.

05/06/2026: I love this place! The steaks here are some of the best I’ve ever had — juicy, flavorful, and generously sized. For just €29, you get a huge plate with a steak, fried onions, and potatoes. The portion is truly impressive and definitely worth the price. They also have a great selection of cocktails to choose from. The dining area is spacious and has a wonderful atmosphere. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who loves a good steak.

16/08/2026: Delicious steak, wonderful pizza, delicious salad, wonderful dessert. Everything is very fast. The staff is very polite. Very pleasant, cozy atmosphere. I definitely recommend it.

11/08/2026: Food was great the lasagna was delicious and the carbonara was very good also really enjoyed the food very nice place and the portions were great didn't leave hungry and value for money 10/10.

12/07/2026: What a find this is a little Gem. I couldn't recommend it highly enough. From the moment I arrive it had a brilliant welcoming feel to it .We ate on two evenings with the Hill Climb gang the food and service plus a few Guinness all made our stay so enjoyable . Plus I had the pleasure of meeting some of the management Ill definitely be back.. A got to visit if your travelling in this area

11/07/2026: The seabass and steak was absolutely outstanding — perfectly cooked, delicately seasoned, and incredibly fresh. A genuinely impressive plate of food and easily one of the best seabass and steak dishes we've had in Ireland. Best chef ever. Thank you

08/08/2026: Otherwise good food spoiled by some issues. First, we were seated on the first floor at a table directly facing the setting sun even though other tables were open. All the windows were closed despite the room being hot. Second, my cod entree had a butterly cocoon hiding in the kale. Kale is notorious for contamination and needs to be washed thoroughly to avoid. The waitress apologized and offered to replace the dish. Not wanting to wait I decided to eat the dish anyway. After finishing the entree, the waitress offered to make me the entree again which made no sense. At no time did any senior member of staff check on the issue. And finally, they took 20 min to get a glass of wine for my wife. By the time it came, we had finished dinner. The reason? Not enough glasses so they had to hand wash. Despite these issues, no money off the check.

12/07/2026: Despite being very busy when I arrived, the staff were extremely welcoming and quickly found me a table. The service was prompt and friendly throughout. I had the salmon, followed by a delicious homemade apple pie for dessert, and both were excellent. The atmosphere was warm and relaxed, making for a very enjoyable dining experience. I left very happy and would happily recommend

29/07/2026: Nice coffee. Tasty cakes and friendly service from the staff... This coffee shop has the best views in the town from the upstairs regardless of the time of year. In the summertime, they have seats on the street. Overall, it's worth a visit.

01/07/2026: A group of us went here last Friday for a leaving dinner. To say the food was outstanding from start to finish is an understatement. absolutely fabulous. Our waitress was Mairead and she was just top class. Couldn't do enough for us. She even brought a decorated Brownie plate out as a surprise for the girl that was going to her new job. Thanks again Mairead!!! In fact all the staff in Eight Degrees are super friendly & welcoming and fantastic at their jobs. Cant wait to return!

11/07/2026: Food was very nice but we were waiting over an hour for our food. We ordered some starters and did not receive all of them. Had to ask for the bill 5 times and when we got it, there was dishes on it that we didn’t order

01/06/2026: Popped into Vitto’s for dinner and it was fab! We had prawns and bruchetta to start and it was the nicest we’ve gotten in a long long time. Would highly recommend! We had a bit of a long wait until the plates were picked up but the carbonara and beef stroganoff was well worth it! It was fabulous! Overall fantastic would definitely come again!

26/07/2026: A little hidden gem in Carrick-on-Shannon. The cozy courtyard is a quite place to relax, and the staff were warm and welcoming. Both the cappuccino and the decaf flat white were excellent - not something you find everywhere. We also loved the freshly baked scone served with butter and jam, and the carrot cake was great. A lovely little café with a relaxed atmosphere, great coffee, and delicious homemade treats. We would happily come back and highly recommend it!

15/07/2026: We found The Olive Tree in Carrick-on-Shannon because ChatGPT recommended it as the best place for breakfast between Tullamore and Sligo, and it was absolutely right. We arrived with a group of 12, and the team could not have been more welcoming. They seated all of us together with no problem and made us feel right at home from the moment we arrived. The breakfast was outstanding, the coffee was excellent, and the atmosphere was warm, relaxed, and inviting. Everything was fresh, delicious, and served with a smile. If you are travelling through the area, this is well worth a stop. Fantastic food, great service, and a lovely atmosphere. Five stars from all 12 of us. We will definitely be back.

30/05/2026: The food was so good. My girlfriend I enjoyed the service of Aifric. She took our order and special requests and the food came exactly as was ordered. She was very warm. We’d recommend and we will definitely be back🥳🥳

06/05/2026: One of just a few eateries open on a Tuesday evening during a slightly off peak season. The BR Bistro is easily accessible for a wheelchair and the owner/floor manager was most accommodating and helpful. This is a family run business and the owners serve on a 'front line' system. They obviously take great pride in their business and the eating experience reflects their dedication. The steak selection for the evening was fillet and for me, cooked precisely to my liking. Declining the chips option I was served tastily prepared baby potatoes as a side dish. Perfect! My wife's Prawn dish c/w Spanish chorizo was equally enjoyed. The husband and wife team were charming, friendly and very helpful. Our bill came came to €44 per person including drinks which we consider good value these days for excellent fare and proper, personal service. We chose this restaurant for the evening partly because of the limited choice available on the off peak season. We wish now that we'd have found it sooner. We'll be back to Carrick on Shannon in the future though and the BR Bistro will be our number 1 choice when dining out.

03/08/2026: What a mad house on a bank holiday weekend. Great band playing on way in. But with the boom boom coming from the disco at the rear they were impossible to hear. Lots of very drunk people about at 8 in the evening. Would not like to be here at 11pm really a place for the stags hens and young people.
