An Pucan in Galway

Myself and my wife went here for dinner our first night in Galway. I had the curry and she had the steak sandwich. Both were absolutely delicious. We ended up staying there for the rest of the night, because the atmosphere and craic was great. They had some amazing music and the staff were so friendly.

Outstanding lunch! This place has a lot of charm, the food was delicious and the service was extremely friendly and attentive. If we are ever back in Galway, would absolutely come back.

Spice bags: Great for splitting

Having too many options makes it difficult to make a good decision. That is the case with Galway. There are so many great pubs that you end up missing out on many opportunities while trying to decide which one is the best. If you don't have a specific place in mind, and you are Korean, I strongly recommend this place. The food tastes exactly like Korean food, and the atmosphere and service are all excellent. You absolutely must try the chicken wings. They are not American-style buffalo wings, but Korean-style seasoned fried chicken that is truly delicious. The music is usually Irish. You'll find the pop songs we enjoy only in the street busking; the pubs generally play Irish music.

Try the lunch menu! This place was such a good find and we visited here twice after enjoying the food, drinks and atmosphere. The food was really nice and you get such a big portion for a little price (compared to the usual price). We ordered the Irish stew, bangers and mash, and the seafood chowder. For this price, we were so surprised at the great quality and taste of the food. The lamb was soft and tender in the stew, paired with the hearty brown bread. The bangers and mash was an ultimate comfort food, and the gravy was lovely. The seafood chowder was also lovely, but we could omit ordering that next time as we struggled to finish everything! During the evening, they had traditional music playing at the front of the pub and a band playing in the back near the beer garden. Plenty of space and seating indoors and outdoors. Good craic overall.

I have been to many pubs, for many years, and this is my favorite. Whether I am taking a group, or just getting a pint by myself, An Pucan strikes the perfect balance. In the front they have a nice old school irish pub and often feature trad music. Perfect pints and excellent staff. No rude doorman - everyone cool. In back their chef is excellent and service is quick - have never had a bad meal. In the event space in far back they can cater to teams and groups. I have brought large groups and they really work to make An Pucan everyone’s favorite. Location, music, service, reasonable prices and all types of seating (and music) bring me back again and again.
