Cellar Bar in Galway

We enjoyed this place so much that we came here twice during our visit in Galway, and both times were a wonderful experience. We tried the Wok Stir Fry with added Cajun chicken, the Chicken & Broccoli Pasta, and the Vegetable Curry with added Chicken. All of them were very delicious, and came in big portions. The prices were affordable. Lovely friendly staff.

Great spot for some decent breakfast

A fantastic experience overall! From the moment we walked in, the vibe of the place really stood out — stylish, lively, and very welcoming. It’s the kind of atmosphere that immediately puts you in a good mood and makes you want to stay and enjoy the moment. The food was absolutely delicious, with great flavors and beautiful presentation. You can tell there’s real creativity behind the menu and a lot of attention given to both taste and detail. Service was also excellent: friendly, attentive, and always available without being intrusive. Everything was well-paced, making the whole experience feel relaxed and enjoyable. All in all, a great spot that delivers on every level. Definitely worth visiting, and I’d happily come back!

Walked in for lunch and a drink and had a lovely experience. The portion sizes are great and the food is good. Nothing extraordinary, just classic pub food. The service was great.

The upstairs was very quiet, perfect for chatting over a beer. The downstairs (I didn't go) was much livelier.

Every visit is such a pleasure, whether it’s enjoying relaxed lunchtimes or coming along to the open mics and gigs, which are always full of great energy and talent. On top of that, the food menu is fantastic - always delicious, well presented, and with great choices. The staff are truly something special - kind, positive, chatty, and incredibly welcoming. They go out of their way to make everyone feel comfortable and included, and they’re always happy to help, whether it’s celebrating birthdays, having a friendly chat, or just making sure you’re looked after with a smile. A special thank you to Hanna, George, and Sean - they are absolutely amazing. I always enjoy chatting with them, and their customer service is outstanding. They genuinely care, and it really shows in everything they do. You can truly feel the positive atmosphere they create, and it’s one of the main reasons I keep coming back. Really lovely place to have a pint without ruining yourself, calm atmosphere. I highly recommend as a solo traveling woman.

Food was nice enough and quite reasonable for portion sizes which are really big. The staff were very friendly however they acted as they wanted you out the building as soon as you were in by taking your plates away straight after eating even though other people were still eating on the table etc. The music was exceptional though. Can’t fault the staff at all, think the managers tell them to act busy 24/7 and they did that. Toilets needed a clean though.

We were visiting so I don't know if this was an off day for them, but I would skip this place. Our food was decent, but the service was awful.

A Galway classic you can always rely on The Cellar is a Galway staple and one of those places you know you can always depend on. It’s an old reliable in the best possible way. The food is consistently excellent, the portions are generous, and the prices are fair, which isn’t always easy to find anymore. Whether you’re dropping in for a casual meal or bringing someone who’s visiting Galway, it never disappoints. It’s been doing what it does well for years, and that consistency is exactly why it’s such a favourite. Proper comfort food, a solid pint, and great value.
