Don't let the rather bland exterior fool you as behind the facade is a 5 star family run hotel and restaurant serving some of the finest food I have tasted. Lovely to relax in the Green room with lovely views after your meal. Pet friendly a real deal maker!!

A very nice little hotel with tastefully furnished rooms, comfortable beds, newly renovated, a modern bathroom, a good breakfast buffet (you can order an extra breakfast), excellent taste, and everything prepared with love. Highly recommended.

We love going to the Ardagh for special dinner evenings ever since we moved to Connemara about 8 years ago. The food, the service, the atmosphere, the staff, the cocktails :) and the views all speak for themselves but are simply exceptional. This year we splurged and treated ourselves to an all nighter to relax in the bar after dinner and took into the tasty breakfast the next day which was brilliant. They might only be open over the summer months but the that almost adds to the charm and appreciation of the place when it is open I find. I hope they have many more summers ahead for them.

The Ardagh is lovely, cosy hotel with a great atmosphere. It has a nice bar and lounge where you can relax and have a drink while you chat or read. The choice of drinks is excellent and they also have non-alcoholic drinks. There’s generally some chill jazz (not the terrible elevator kind) playing to get you into that relaxed state of mind. Breakfast was included and we availed of it both mornings. It’s a straightforward selection of a menu or you can get food from their buffet. You should have dinner there at least one night. The chefs provide an excellent menu of delicious food that is generally sourced from the local area. The plant room is excellent for soaking in that nature vibe without leaving the hotel. It’ll be like you’re reading in an exotic jungle. The location is just outside of Clifden, ideal if you drive but still a walkable distance. The staff are lovely, chatty, and extremely helpful. If you’re lucky the Bruce will greet you at the door (iykyk)

Very nice, privately run, small hotel with excellent cuisine!

This was our first time staying at this location (also first time in Ireland) and the Ardagh Hotel did not disappoint! Stéphane and his staff meticulously care for all their guests and restaurant patrons, and it is immediately evident that many are return guests who love this establishment. If you are lucky, you may even be initially greeted by Bruce, the incredibly sweet pup who watches over the hotel. The combination of location, beautiful scenery, and food/drink menus make the Ardagh a must for any tourist looking for an unforgettable Ireland experience or a local looking for a lovely getaway! We will most definitely be back as soon as we can!

Great to see the Ardagh open for the season, a favourite of ours. I find the lobster hard to resist, but everything on the menu is great!

We stayed at the Ardagh Hotel over the weekend and honestly couldn’t recommend it enough. We traveled as a couple with our dog, and were so impressed by how dog-friendly the hotel is—dogs are welcome in most areas as long as they’re on the lead. The room, while on the smaller side, had everything we needed and was comfortable and clean. Breakfast was included in our stay, and it was a lovely cooked breakfast each morning. We also had dinner at the hotel restaurant and it was fantastic—a delicious three-course meal with excellent vegetarian options. The hotel itself is well maintained, with amazing views and a peaceful setting. It’s in a great location too—just under a 10-minute drive from Clifden town. The staff were lovely as well, really friendly and accommodating. Overall, we had such a lovely stay and will definitely be back!
