Bastion Kitchen in Athlone

We made a stop here for lunch on our way from Dublin to Galway, and it was such a great experience! Excellent vegan options, generous portion sizes, super friendly service, and a cozy atmosphere. Highly recommend!

Had a black pepper sausage bap which was absolutely unbelievably fantastic and an amazing americano. Place was nice and staff were friendly and’s nice.

Such a nice place. I like the window seat, it's very cozy and good for people watching. I liked both the food and the coffee. The kind of stuff you would pay for 🤠

This was our stop driving from Dublin to Galway. Perfect location. Food was fresh and full of flavor. Highly recommend the Avocado Toast! So damn good! Tasty lattes. Place is small but we snuck in with perfect timing.

We were on the road from Dublin to Galway and stopped in this town because we didn’t know where to eat and were hungry. Almost everything was closed or looked really sad and then we found this gem! The food is delicious, the service is very nice and very good vibes overall! Such a nice surprise! If you are in the neighborhood you should definitely stop!

This little cafe was a fabulous find. We visited for lunch 4 days in a row whilst in Athlone and sampled various things from the menu and everything was delicious and full of flavour. Can't fault the soup on a rainy day. Gets a bit hectic, it's only small and can be busy but the staff are friendly and helpful. Coffee was excellent too.

Friendly staff and the most amazing avocado toast. The only thing that would make it better is real chocolate in the iced mocha instead of syrup, given that this is a health cafe.

Bastion Kitchen is a small, friendly premises in Athlone. They have fresh items an the menu daily, including soups, sandwich specials, salads and hot dinner options. The quality of the ingredients and the freshness of the sourdough and "tiger" bread is what keeps me coming back. They also happily provide vegan options. They sell healthy kitchen staples like nutritional yeast, cider vinegar, etc. I usually get my sandwich to go and have never been disappointed.
