Bastion in Kinsale

Helen and the entire team at Bastion were absolutely wonderful. You can tell they are extremely focused on customer experience. The food was incredible, and the wine pairing complimented the courses perfectly. We would love the chance to dine here again!

The best meal in Ireland by a mile. A small intimate restaurant with just 12 covers but the food was really wow. Each course an absolute gem with such great flavour and massive thought in its creation. Hats off to the chef! Stand out dishes were the langoustine and turbot, both utterly amazing. The main course duck was a little disappointing, as is often the case, being a little tough but the transition course just so wow and one of the best I’ve ever had! Dessert not bad either! A little over priced wine list but did not distract from the overall experience. Just hope they stay at the top of their game!

We have been here several times and every time is special. The food is wonderful and Helen is a fantastic host.

The fried chicken in lime and yoghurt was a delight and I enjoyed it. The vanilla ice cream sandwich which is a candied brioche sandwich with caramel, was delicious. The service was flawless and the staff ensured that I enjoyed my time here.

Absolutely amazing experience, some of the best food we’ve ever had, flawless service and great atmosphere. The food reminds of the traditional irish flavours but with elevated and extremely interesting new shapes and textures. All of that complemented with an extensive catalogue of wines. If I could only recommend one restaurant in Ireland it would be this one.

We celebrated our 10 year wedding anniversary with my parents in Bastion recently and what a special evening it was. The venue is cosy and welcoming with beautiful white table cloths and and intimate atmosphere. The 7 course tasting meal was delicious, and culinary treat. Paul, Helen and Max were all incredibly knowledgeable and informative on the different processes used in making each course. We opted for the wine pairing option and Helen described each wine pairing in detail, heightening our enjoyment of both the wines and the evening. It was a very special evening that we will treasure and I couldn’t recommend this establishment and Helen and Paul highly enough. Thank you Lowry
