Blackrock Cottage in Galway

Fabulous setting for a Cafe / Restaurant with the sea within a stones throw. Wonderful scenery with lots of people passing. Food is top notch, having developed an appetite after walking from the other end of the Promenade. Street parking, but can be difficult.

This place is a real experience. The venue is special, a really beautiful building in an iconic part of Galway. We stopped for brunch with our two little ones in the week between Christmas and New Year. The food was divine. I felt the service could have been better. There was definitely an air of tension/stress (which you couldn’t blame them for, the place was packed), but I was made feel a little awkward about the fact we had a buggy and needed a few high chairs. We would have had more drinks, desserts and coffee (and spent more money) had there been more servers around to check in and ask. Really, they are my only complaints and I assume it was because of the time of year. I’ve eaten here for dinner before also and service and food was excellent then. Would highly recommend.

Service with a smile might help .host was not that welcoming. He had to clear a table fair enough .my wife went to follow him to said table and was quite rudely told to stay where she was .he then disappeared with the dishes I presume to the kitchen and did not reappear for what felt like10mins .when he did reappear he sat us at the table he had cleared.food was excellent but nobody came to see if everything was good. Called over a waitress to get ketchup and garlaic mayo we also asked for more water as the jug was empty ketchup and mayo arrived but no water .places were cleared ask for desert menu recived same after 15 minutes again had to call a waitress over deserts were fab .overall minor issues food was well worth it and will forgive Service issues as it was at the end of a busy brunch period.

Food was excellent the fry is top notch. Méabh was excellent serving us. I’m a regular and will continue coming back. Food and service very consistent.

Blackrock Cottage is really great from starters till desert, main dish was top notch quality, great atmosphere and really good service. Food wise you wont get disappointed as chef definitely know how to cook great stuff. We loved the table of the bay view.

The food is delicious, the service is good, and the environment is beautiful. I will come back if I have the chance. It is convenient to find parking nearby (free) Nice food

Fantastic staff fantastic food and very reasonably priced

Food was ok in an otherwise brilliant experience. A real sense of home when you sit inside the cottage. Atmosphere and service exceptional. The food was plated very well, we ordered the fish sandwhich and the beef brisket philli sandwhich. Unfortunately, fish was dry and overcooked. Beef brisket needed more beef brisket.

Great restaurant, with first class service and food. The operators have thought everything through down to the last detail.
