Bovine in Portlaoise

Bovine is an upstairs restaurant on the main street of Portloaise. The decor is a combination of stone and white washed walls. It has that rustic feel about it. The staff were busy they had a number of tables including a party of 8. We ordered the Hot Honey Buffalo Chicken Tenders as a starter and got Crispy Chilli Chicken Tenders. We ate them anyway, they were delicious, really good. Then we had the Black & Blue burger it had 2 smashed patties, Clonakilty black pudding, Cashel blue cheese, lettuce, pickles, Bovine sauce and Ballymaloe relish and I have to say it was the best burger I have ever eaten. Accompanied with Garlic Parmesan Fries and absolutely delicious, really tasty. We really enjoyed the food, the wait between courses was long though, we were hungry and from time of arrival it was 50 minutes before we got our main meal.

best burger in Ireland now imo. Love our one in Kilkenny but this one was extra special. The staff were lovely, attentive and chatty! Room as a little cold on a horrible windy day is my only complaint! 10/10 will be there again ;)

First visit and it won't be the last, high recommend.

Got the bovine burger and brisket fries. Both were great tasting and great size too. Definitely worth the money. You probably won't have room for dessert after you finish.

I went here with my family on my birthday. The food is amazing, best burger i have had in a long time. Simple menu too. Not spoilt for too much choice. They have a gluten free option on a bun and my sister said is was the nicest GF Bun she has had they were also able to accommodate to her being a celiac. I recommend this place, prices are great too. Staff were attentive and friendly. I would suggest to this place to hand out crayons over markers to kids though. But that is not a huge deal. Lastly, the female toilets has space for a wall hanging changing table. It would be better to have it there instead of leaving the place to change the child. But I highly commend the place for having the cleanest high chairs I have seen in a restaurant. Thank you for cleaning them.

Best burger in the Midlands by a longshot. Great pub below it too, where you can also order a burger.
