Great hotel. Rooms were well appointed and beds were comfortable. Breakfast was excellent (best Eggs Benedict of our trip). We hung out in the bar the night we stayed but couldn't get into the restaurant as it was fully booked and very busy. Book early if you want to eat there. Staff was fantastic. We forgot a suitcase and they hired a cab to bring it to the airport for us.

Stayed in this hotel for 2 nights. The room was rather old-fashioned but it fit well with the charm of the hotel. The bathroom was very large and everything was clean. The staff was super friendly. From reception to breakfast, everything was very accommodating. The place was also very idyllic, it was a 5 minute walk to Bunratty Castle.

We arrived late in the evening, well past dinner, and were warmly welcomed by the man at the front desk—who I believe is the owner. Despite the hour, he kindly offered us some brown bread and salmon, which was such a thoughtful gesture and very appreciated after a long journey. The whole place was absolutely lovely. Every single person we interacted with made our stay even better—from the friendly man originally from Ohio, to the cheerful waitress who recommended Coco Puffs to our kids (not a cereal we usually have in the US) It’s the little things like that that make a stay memorable. The Irish breakfast was delicious, the room was comfortable and spotless, and the bathroom was simply gorgeous. But more than anything, the hospitality we received—especially from the owner—really stood out. It made us feel genuinely welcome and taken care of. A truly lovely stay from start to finish. Highly recommend.

Durty Nelly's

20/07/2025: Our last beverage before returning to Massachusetts after our Bunratty Medieval feast and ten days of exploring the area. Durty Mary's has a quintessential Irish atmosphere with a relaxed vibe and a great musician tucked away who was quite good. We had accidentally deleted the phone number for our cab and the bartender demonstrated the best hospitality by securing us another cab, and he also kept watch for us. He even escorted us to meet the driver. We had a great conversation with some native Northerners also on holiday ending our evening with hugs and handshakes. Thank you for your hospitality.
18/07/2025: Been coming to Durty Nellys since I was a kid. We fly over a few times a year and always visit. However this was the first time ordering food. The food was delicious, I had the steak sandwiches and it was huge. The portion was definitely worth the money. They have a good size menu and can't fault any of it. The pub itself is beautiful, very traditional with lots to look at. It is very enticing from the outside too. It has loads of little nook and crannys to sit too.

Traditional Irish Night-Cornbarn at Bunratty Folk Park

24/08/2025: We were told that we had to visit Bunratty with our four year old child because of the folk park and realistic castle. It wasn't worth it to us. We had already visited Blarney (a better garden experience and the castle was plenty for us) and Muckross Farm (staff was much more interesting and wanted to share info, plus there were actual farm animals available). At Bunratty we didn't get to see anything but chickens and empty, unused pens. The castle was interesting enough but the staff was only dressed up, not interested in building up the experience. It was really busy and after 9 days on western Ireland it was the one thing we would have been happy to skip.
24/08/2025: Fantastic. A truly original castle, not renovated as is often the case with other castles to attract tourists. The surrounding park is stunning, perfect for a pleasant stroll. I hope the weather is favorable.
