Butcher in Kilkenny

I have to say... just wow. This restaurant was recommended to us by our hotel receptionist, and it absolutely lived up to expectations. From the moment we arrived, the hostess was warm and welcoming. We had initially tried to book over the phone but were advised to walk in and despite how busy it was, we were seated within minutes. The place was buzzing, with a fantastic atmosphere throughout. To start, we ordered the short rib beef croquettes, which were exceptional, truly melt-in-your-mouth. For mains, we both chose the filet steaks with peppercorn sauce, cooked perfectly and full of flavour. The sides of mac and cheese and mashed potatoes were equally enjoyable and complemented the meal well. Overall, a really impressive dining experience. I would definitely recommend it, delicious from start to finish.

Mains were great, but the creme brulee would make me go back again and again. Cocktails were lovely too.

Exquisite meat at reasonable prices. Despite being absolutely packed with diners, the service was very quick. The menu isn’t extensive, but the quality is excellent. Truly outstanding.

Had a lovely evening here for my birthday last week. Steak was so nice and rare just the way it is supposed to be.

First time visiting Kilkenny and we were drawn in by the amazing smell of the steaks on a Saturday evening — and we’re so glad we went in! Even without a reservation, Camilla gave us a very warm welcome and offered us a comfortable table in the waiting area where we could enjoy a glass of wine and soak up the great atmosphere. Within 30 minutes, she had arranged a table for us in the main restaurant. The service and communication were excellent throughout. We ordered the fillet steak and the butcher’s burger — both were absolutely delicious and cooked perfectly. Overall, a fantastic experience from start to finish. Huge credit to Camilla and the whole team. We’ll definitely be back when we’re in Kilkenny again!

We were 'walk ins '.....offered table till 630.....Not Turned Away !! The right approach.... Food was great and the tapioca desert unusual and pleasing This is a good set up !!!

Ribeye with sides were so nice - we got the mac and cheese, fries, mashed potato and roast vegetables. Red wine just sauce, we didn’t get desserts.

Best restaurant in the world The food was amazing. Service was exceptionally good. Very friendly staff. The Lady that greeted us and made my booking was absolutely lovely, very professional. Highly recommend Can't wait to return. 5 stars.

My family and I had a lovely time at butcher. Delicious food, from the tasty meat with their sides and lovely dessert. Atmosphere was great and staff very nice. We will visit again when we'll be back to Kilkenny! Thanks.

Gorgeous steaks! Tasty cocktails! Highly recommend this restaurant after visiting multiple times!! Highly recommend the mash, sweet potato fries and garlic bread. I personally wouldn’t be a fan of the dessert menu very little selection but other than that I can not fault the place!!
