Istanbul BBQ House Flaming Great

04/03/2025: Delicious food, made even better by the friendly and kind owner!!! Highly recommend if you are visiting Kilkenny!
16/02/2025: Stopped by on a whim as my gf and I were exploring Kilkenny on a slow Feburary Sunday afternoon. The BBQ House stood out with its flashy lights and bold smells and at that point we were getting pretty hungry so we decided to take a chance. For 17 euros amd some change, I got the lamb shish kebab and spicy chicken wings on the side. Everything was perfectly seasoned - I didn't reach for the salt, pepper, chili flakes etc which was phenomenal and frankly not my usual experience with ethnic foods. I took one bite of their toasted bread and took my jacket and scarf off because I knew I was going to go to town on that thing - the closest equivalent I could think of are high quality breadsticks fresh out of the oven from Mellow Mushroom or whatever mid-tier plus pizza chain in the states. Except you get two generous slices of them. That paired with the sauce-slathered lamb and fresh side salad with a pickled chili pepper? Exactly the pick-me-up I needed. Hmm...forgot to take pics, but hopefully y'all will give this place a shot. Oh, the chicken was pretty good too, small and not spicy but also juicy and flavorful. Spicy is relative anyway, who cares. TLDR: I wouldn't know what would be considered authentic Turkish food if it came up to me and shoved a chip up my nose, but I did quite like the food here and I left full and happy!
