22/12/2025: Great location, Gerry is a brilliant host, room was clean and comfortable, bathrooms could do with a little facelift but clean and functional, breakfast was delicious....we will definitely stay there again

01/12/2025: I booked last minute with Gerry and I'm glad I decided to take a punt and stay in Rafters. We booked two rooms as it was a family stay and the central location appealed to us, the rooms were very clean and very comfortable. Gerry was lovely with a great sense of humour and I couldn't believe how low the price was which included a huge hearty and delicious breakfast the next morning, the value for money was exceptional. The pub itself is lovely, very traditional with a rooftop smoking area that's warm and covered which we loved as it was freezing and pouring down with rain outside yet myself and my partner were as snug as bugs in the smoking area which was a huge plus for us. There was live music on the night we stayed and we had a great night singing and dancing along to the singer who was lovely and got the whole bar dancing, I didn't catch her name but we got talking to her afterwards and she was a dote. The breakfast the next morning included cereal, a huge fry up, fruit, tea, coffee and yogurt so no matter what your taste was or how big of an appetite you have it is catered for. The staff were lovely especially the girl working in the bar the next morning, she was very attentive and had a lovely personality. All in all we loved staying there and I highly recommend Rafters to anyone thinking of heading to Kilkenny, you won't be disappointed in fact you'll be very pleasantly surprised by what a fun and lovely place it is.
