Carrickdale Hotel in

Went with my other half and mum for my birthday and it was fantastic and the staff couldn't have been lovelier. Always a treat to come for the carvery and it was terrific as usual. Mum needed a wee bit of assistance and the staff couldn't have done more for us. The food BTW was excellent. The roasts were very tender and tasty. The portion sizes are huge and one meal would easily feed two. Really lovely place and the staff are just terrific and incredibly friendly - love it!

It was meat and two veg, plus stuffing, gravy and roast potatoes too. There was ham, beef, turkey and a chilli sauce with battered chicken within. They had salmon as well fish choice. I opted for beef and ham. Perfectly cooked meats with the ham real tasty as it had a decent amount of salt probably from the cure. The beef too was tasty. There are no refinements (no Yorkshire puds, no pepper sauce, no bits of bacon in the cabbage) just the sort of Sunday dinner you’d make at home. I didn’t want stuffing, gravy or roast potatoes; I was cabbage, mashed potato and carrot & parsnip. They had English mustard - in so difficult to open pouches - but sadly it wasn’t Colman’s which is the best by a long way. The rest of the family turkey and hammed it. Cappuccinos came in at €3.8. They were tasty. Friendly staff and great value in a rip off world.
