Cavistons in Dublin

I went here for my parent's 30th wedding anniversary (they wanted to celebrate it as a group) and it was perfect. Our family had never been to Ireland before so it gave us a great introduction to how good food in the region can be. Everything was delicious and service was spot on. Would highly recommend and can see myself going back and spending more time exploring this particular neighborhood as well.

Great food at affordable prices. Great service We were unlucky because the table beside us was extremely loud . But we will be back very soon

We had a late Friday lunch for the fifth time this year and it was wonderful. We had fresh crab claws in a gorgeous lemon and butter sauce. Then we had a butterflied, chargrilled red mullet with excellent accompaniments included for €20 Finished with a perfect blackberry cheesecake. Superb lunch .

Lovely seafood, great wine and service

Recently had a lunch mid week, the food was fab and the staff were very professional. We will be going back.

Every time we visit we think, shall we move here? This is a fantastic neighbourhood restaurant in a beautiful part of Dublin. We eat here every time we travel from London. Amazing food and service.

Cavistons is one of Dublin's best-known fish restaurants. Particularly to 'South-Siders'. It has been family-owned and run for decades. While I was always put off by the difficulty in getting a table - particularly at weekends - the new restaurant is worth booking well in advance. It is just superb. And the 'attitude' has been diluted !!! A lot. The menu options at the new restaurant, with its lovely views of the Irish Sea (from one part of the restaurant) are wide and very well priced. Chips are now 'permitted' and are of a quality that is the best I have had in any Dublin restaurant. Obviously the fish dishes are excellent - particularly the daily specials. We all had super starters (I had a gorgeous crab dish) and I opted for the sole as main course. Great. I had the halibut mains with other friends having the hake & monkfish. All excellent. The side dishes - particularly the carrots - were extra special with lots of quantity and taste. And of course the chips !! Or should I call them 'fries' The staff were all super friendly and I would particularly like to thank Luke I am delighted to add Cavistons to my list of favourite Dublin restaurants
