Great value for money, very good service (just a little bit slow), super friendly staff, mega fresh and savory fish, lovely and authentic atmosphere. I highly recommend it π I was there with my wife, children and in-laws and all of us loved it

Wow. What a disappointment. Four of us. The other three liked their food, i must point out!
I ordered the vegitarian (... it was on the menu!) - a cashel blue and leek pithiviers. It came the first time without any content - just the pastry. When I pointed this out, they went and cooked again, this time bringing it back with cheese (both melted and a lump of cold!) in it. Still no leek. It went with the leekless tart - time was passing. I didn't make a big fuss - I was just quite bemused - but the image it conjured up of the kitchen was really disappointing.
They comped my meal without my asking.
The service was inattentive, unobservant, and slow, despite plenty of staff in a less than busy Sunday night restaurant.
My three companions enjoyed their food, which his what I had expected, but three stars becuase they got mine wrong twice.
That the atmostphere was 'quiet Sunday' was fine, but the quality of service was harder to understand, hence 2 stars.

The food was very good but the service was poor. I felt they were acting as they felt servers at a " fancy" restaurant rather than. actually focusing on their work. Getting one of our orders wrong, not providing a spoon and fork for the tagliatelle, leaving the wine list on the very cramped table after we had ordered. It's not what I expect at this price level.

Fabulous. Probably the best fish restaurant in Dublin. Though it also serves meat. It is a jewel of a restaurant and if you are not local to Glastule or Dunlaoghaire you may have missed it. Find it.
Evening dinner or Sunday lunch were fantastic. The sharing platter is a triumph of oysters, crab, salmon, fishcakes and more. Great value. Staff are friendly and professional. The house red is a winner also.. A premium restaurant that will not break the bank.

We had lunch here today and we are still talking about the food this evening. It was a birthday celebration and we enjoyed every bite. The scallops, the prawns, the haddock and the Brill were unbelievably delicious as were the chocolate mousse and date and toffee pudding complete with a candle and a rousing Happy Birthday from the lovely staff. Peter Caviston stopped by for a chat. Heβs such a good humoured man and it was lovely to see him looking so well and elegant as ever.

Sometimes we take what is on our doorstep for granted, but I am very lucky to have Cavistons on my doorstep. The main focus of the food is, as would be expected, fish which is executed beautifully, but there is something for everyone on the menu. On the night I opted for Miso Glazed Aubergine which was delicious and innovative. Staff are very friendly and informative, the space in the restaurant is lovely, dark and intimate downstairs, bright and funky upstairs.
Definitely worth a detour.
