Wow. What a disappointment. Four of us. The other three liked their food, i must point out!
I ordered the vegitarian (... it was on the menu!) - a cashel blue and leek pithiviers. It came the first time without any content - just the pastry. When I pointed this out, they went and cooked again, this time bringing it back with cheese (both melted and a lump of cold!) in it. Still no leek. It went with the leekless tart - time was passing. I didn't make a big fuss - I was just quite bemused - but the image it conjured up of the kitchen was really disappointing.
They comped my meal without my asking.
The service was inattentive, unobservant, and slow, despite plenty of staff in a less than busy Sunday night restaurant.
My three companions enjoyed their food, which his what I had expected, but three stars becuase they got mine wrong twice.
That the atmostphere was 'quiet Sunday' was fine, but the quality of service was harder to understand, hence 2 stars.

The food was very good but the service was poor. I felt they were acting as they felt servers at a " fancy" restaurant rather than. actually focusing on their work. Getting one of our orders wrong, not providing a spoon and fork for the tagliatelle, leaving the wine list on the very cramped table after we had ordered. It's not what I expect at this price level.

Fabulous. Probably the best fish restaurant in Dublin. Though it also serves meat. It is a jewel of a restaurant and if you are not local to Glastule or Dunlaoghaire you may have missed it. Find it.
Evening dinner or Sunday lunch were fantastic. The sharing platter is a triumph of oysters, crab, salmon, fishcakes and more. Great value. Staff are friendly and professional. The house red is a winner also.. A premium restaurant that will not break the bank.

In a word, superb. We had three pleasure of being taken out for dinner to this amazing seafood restaurant with my in laws.
The dining room is beautifully set up with attentive staff. The G&T came with fever tree which is always a big tick for me.
We experienced great service and the food was stunning. We had cause entrees and mains which all got superb from everyone in our group.
I started with the seared tuna with sesame and followed up with a half lobster.
Both courses we're perfectly executed.
The wine list is extensive without being overbearing and prices represent great value for money.
A huge thank you to John and Ita for the meal out.
I couldn't recommend highly enough.

I just had dinner with my better half and it was amazing. The food was delicious. Everything was so good, and the grilled Turbot special was sublime. Also the tempura prawns were the best we ever had. The sides were very good too, especially the broccoli with feta cheese. So good!
Service and atmosphere was very good too.
We traveled all the way from Howth to try the specials and we will be back for sure.
Thank you guys for the service and attention to detail.

We had a wonderful evening in Cavistons - greeted by the master himself Peter Caviston . What a wonderful restaurant he has created . Our food was simply sublime - every mouthful . The staff were excellent very friendly and attentive . We have been going to Cavistons for 35 years and it is our favourite restaurant in Dublin . Thank you Peter .

Sometimes we take what is on our doorstep for granted, but I am very lucky to have Cavistons on my doorstep. The main focus of the food is, as would be expected, fish which is executed beautifully, but there is something for everyone on the menu. On the night I opted for Miso Glazed Aubergine which was delicious and innovative. Staff are very friendly and informative, the space in the restaurant is lovely, dark and intimate downstairs, bright and funky upstairs.
Definitely worth a detour.
