Clayton Hotel Cork City in Cork

Reception lady on when checking out was not nice when asked her to update the invoice title. Room overnight can be really hot. The room temperature cannot be adjusted. Waiting time to be seated for breakfast can be long.

Aside from the clerk who checked us in being abrupt and everything was my fault, did not make things easy. My husband is an early riser & still suffering a little bit from jet lag, went down the next morning to the main area to find coffee. There was a young man who was extremely helpful and gave him some coffee even though breakfast wasn't quite ready to be served. A little later that morning, my husband complimented the young man to the same clerk that checked us in. She went on and on about how he shouldn't have done that and how she was going to have to "instruct the staff" not to do that again. Geez... she would not shut up about it. My husband, thinking that he was doing a good thing by complimenting a staff member, felt absolutely awful that he may have gotten that young man in trouble. There was a different young woman during breakfast, who got to know my husband. She was awesome. By the way, the breakfast buffet is phenomenal! The service in the main restaurant was not good. After sitting there for about 10 min., we finally had to flag down a woman to get service - to just get something to drink. And the restaurant wasn't busy with maybe 4 other couples there. The tea I ordered was just water - there was no tea, and it took forever to get the food. The food, once we got it, was good. Then we had to try to find someone to get our ticket so we could pay for our meal. When we tried to charge it to our room, the young lady said we couldn't charge to your room. I went to the front desk to the same clerk that checked us in, and she said, "You didn't give me a credit card." My response was,"You didn't ask for one." I was just too fed up to say anymore. The room was great, but the beds and the pillows are incredibly hard. Nothing fluffy to them. The housekeeping staff was very nice and helpful.

Lovely hotel. Food was very disappointing on the Mother day Brunch set menu. Overpriced for the poor quality food- very tasteless. It was a shame as I hear their day to day food is great.

Solid hotel with good breakfast. Top location in the center. Underground car park directly below the hotel. The ladies at reception are friendly and helpful.

Used self check in which is very handy and quick, room could have been cleaner, breakfast was disappointing hot food was quite overcooked and tasteless but there was a great variety of food overall.

The staff were so welcoming, kind and helpful. They were very approachable. The room was very comfortable and pleasant. I highly recommend staying here.

Great central hotel. Deducted a star for service as lots of self service machines to checkin etc. Over all a really pleasant stay celebrating a friends bday in Cork. There were 16 of us staying. Lovely room with a balcony over looking the river. Great shower gel, but no moisturiser!

Wow! Amazing, stylish hotel which is the centre of everything. Room was lush. We had a Balcony double room. The ONLY negative but potential positive feedback is to have 2 wee chairs and a table on your balcony. I was having to take 1 of the lounge chairs out everytime I wanted to soal in the lovely view of the River Lee. Breakfast was AMAZING! All staff treated us with respect and had a very friendly atmosphere. We were that impressed that we wanted to book straight away for Paddys day next year but sold out 🫤 Thanks Clayton for a lovely, relaxed stay 😁

Nice hotel at a very central location with all the necessary amenities. Good gym and pool

Nice hotel, clean rooms, comfy beds. However, some staff a bit rude. Me and my Dad are friendly people who have traveled a lot. One morning in the hotel I was sick and my Dad was waiting for me in the breakfast area and a waitress came and asked him to leave because they needed to clear up!! All the other tables were dirty and it was only 15 minutes after breakfast finished at 10! We also encountered some really rude people at breakfast. A lady hovering over me ranting to some other customers and even had her hand on my chair, was quite bizarre. Also we got in late one night and got chased into the loo’s by security. If they had a swipe key on the toilet door they wouldn’t need to question everyone simply going to the toilet! Swimming pool and jacuzzi were nice but there was an extremely loud baby class going on which made it very unrelaxing! They should give you a swimming pool timetable in your room. I found Cork to be very anti-English because of the history which I can understand, but at the same time I found it to be quite an unwelcoming place for English visitors. This made me feel very uncomfortable and would not recommend the city or come back to Cork or this hotel for this reason.
