Prompted to write this partly due to "niggles" which have occurred on last 2 visits, some weeks apart.
You have to feel for the chefs slaving away to produce the carvery. Beef a little rare first time. Good choice of serve-yourself veg's and gravy.
Serving girls seem lovely.
OK, one niggle...the music! Incessant 120 bpm thumping monotonous songs. Surely time to get a new soundtrack?... something more relaxing/chillout. This noise just makes you want to finish up and leave. It's not overly loud, - just inappropriate! But we are in Merseyside, so pretty much par for the course, regretfully.
Secondly, and I'm sorry to mention this, on both occasions I have had to endure the cyclical constant hacking cough of one of the young barstaff. Previous time lad was walking around grasping a hanky to his nose. Not a good look or sound, or good for the ambience, never mind hygiene.
With some work on the ambience this place has promise.
Ms Wright was the perfect host, so warm and welcoming! A quaint establishment, a gem of a pub, like stepping back in time! All the staff were great, nothing was too much trouble. I can’t wait to go back!
