Coqbull in Cork

A few years ago I rated Coqbull five stars. I would have done so every time I went there. It used to be phenomenally good. We went there very regularly. For years I was arguing that this was the best burger place in the city, even after the arrival of other competitors. That is absolutely no longer the case. Coqbull aren't even in the same league anymore. You used to sell burgers that were so big and juicy they were almost unmanageable to eat. So many times over the years I've tried unsuccessfully to eat a burger without it falling apart on me due to how juicy and tender it was. That is no longer the case. You've definitely gotten smaller and I'm fairly sure you forgot to season mine. Your chicken burgers used to be a hefty size Chicken breast. The one we got seemed like a flattened sad dry bit of chicken. I get a bigger juicier chicken crispier burger from my local chipper. The fries used to be irresistibly good. That is no longer the case. The fries I got on my last visit were oddly similar in terms of taste and texture to what I get in my local supermarket in the freezer aisle. The mac and cheese.. just disappointing. It sounded absolutely immense on the menu, but was somehow bland.

Went for a family meal for my daughters birthday on Saturday evening! Great food and a nice atmosphere I would recommend this place pints of Heineken weren't bad either!

Have been to Coqbull about 3 times in the last year. Recently the visit was a bit disappointing compared to previous visits, the angry fries were served with cheeseburger(easi single style) slices, when typically this would be a cheddar that's grated even. The glass of Rosè was not chilled enough. The waiter on our table was v attentive. The Bacon bull burger was good.

5 of us visited here on Sunday evening the food was delicious. 2 of us had bacon burgers 2 had salads and 1 veggie burger. Their fries are amazing followed by dessert. Staff were very friendly and attentive great atmosphere too. Well worth a visit.

Spears a top notch casual dining experience I feel that the cocktails are as good as the good and the casual atmosphere means it’s great for groups as well as couples. Vibrant and delish

What a change in food experience. Still the same great service and friendly staff but the food. Portion sizes are tiny, a side of house fries is €5 which could be only described as a small saucer full. Burgers have got smaller in size. Nothing has been lost in flavour or cooking thankfully but don’t come hungry, such a change from when it first opened.

Company Christmas night out so it was busy. Even being so busy the staff never got stressed or irritated and always had time to answer a question or take a minute to explain something. Food was very tasty quick and filling. Management seen to be doing an excellent job here.

We came across this place and it looked inviting, so we ended up having a gorgeous meal and a glass of wine. The staff were top notch, busy but had to time for you. A really lovely eatery with a chilled out atmosphere, somewhere to sit back, have a bite and relax ... recommended

Just dropped off for a quick bite to eat Friday before hitting the cinema, the restaurant is brightly lit with welcoming decor the staff very efficient I went with the chicken wings and their own hot sauce not spicy at all but very tasty with excellent wings the disappointment was the Steak frites with the cut of the night picanha , I think, recommended by staff as unbelievably tender it wasn’t I found it quite tough and just not that flavourful originally was going to go for the rib eye should have stuck to that on the plus side the sides mushrooms, onions, fries , steak sauce were all excellent. Liked the atmosphere and general ambience, prices reasonable would definitely give another go just would try something else.
