Good for a medium sized town, has all the shops you would expect. It wouldn't take much to make it very busy. Good to kill an hour or so when staying in the hotel adjacent

Plenty nice shops...River Island, Marks & Spencer, TK Maxx, lovely cafes & restaurants. You can stay in the Sheraton hotel, and an elevator takes you to the shops. Plenty on site parking.

My Melody Bistro

07/02/2025: Nice atmosphere and delicious food. Everything we ate was fantastic and the service is very good, they are attentive, polite and friendly.
30/12/2024: We ended up here by chance at Lunch. The food is tasty and fresh. The only thing is that the fish could have been cooked a bit better, which is why we gave it one star. Location is a plus.

Sheraton Athlone Hotel

17/03/2025: Great hotel, really professional staff and very clean. Great food in the bar. Excellent chef! Unfortunately , we stayed beside room 228 on 16 March and witnessed a terrible episode, audible from room 230 coming from 228 next door. A man verbally abusing his partner in the early hours - her voice barely audible but his was loud and vis clous, intimidating and frightening. WW hope this woman reads this and gets away from him. We wonder what she faces at home if he behaves like that in a lovely quiet hotel on a bank holiday weekend with no regard for anyone else. They left early without checking out at the desk, so there was nothing we could do.
