The Dark Horse Bar & Kitchen in Athlone

I entered the Dark Horse Bar & Kitchen around 2:30 pm. There was only a few people enjoying their meal and drink. It gave me the opportunity to see the upstairs and return downstairs to eat and drink. I chose the Fish and Chips with a Guinness. The upstairs has pool tables and darts. An eight minute walk to the Athlone Town Bridge. Vhuntermassage LLC

Food wasn't that good, the staff is lovely and the place looks really nice, but just the food should be worked on. It's very mid

We stopped in looking for some comforting food for lunch. We scored big time with the Guinness Beef stew. Seriously enough for two to share one bowl - unless you are really hungry! The beef was so tender and the carrots and potatoes were perfectly tender. But the broth.... OMG - so divine with such a great depth of flavor. I highly recommend stopping in, if only for the stew, it was delicious and just what we were craving. We also had beer and wine to accompany our meal. The atmosphere was cozy, and the staff enormously friendly and attentive.

Our new favourite place for food. Everything was amazing we both got the cheese please burger and it is the best burger we’ve had in a long time. The garlic cheese fries are to die for same for the pepper sauce. Everything was quality even the large glass of iced tap water. Perfect cocktails and the brownie was so tasty lots of caramel drizzle. Will definitely be back.

Lovely staff, lovely atmosphere. We went here for a staff night out dinner and the food was delicious, quickly prepared too. We always decide to go here for a staff night out, but outside of that, I always go here with friends and its always great. Highly recommend the dark horse to everyone 😁

Absolutely delicious food and really lovely staff. We felt really looked after and enjoyed our dinner. All of the staff were excellent. Will 100% be going back, best place for food in Athlone Town

We arrived a party of 4 after 8pm Sunday evening. We were met instantly by a charming good looking waitress, we got a table and menus. Straight up asked did we want drinks and received them very quickly. Food was amazing and tasty and hot. We were asked by different staff throughout the meal did we need anything or was everything to our satisfaction. I live about an hour away in galway and this was us coming from Dublin..I'll be definitely coming to visit in the future. Overall its a a very positive experience for all of us.

Larisa was fantastic! She was friendly, professional, and made the whole experience enjoyable. Great attention to detail and excellent customer service. I would definitely recommend Larisa to anyone visiting The Dark Horse, and I'll be back again!
