I booked a room at Davitt’s last minute to escape a terrible Airbnb and I am so glad I did! The room was large and comfortable, the bed was cosy, and breakfast was excellent with really friendly service.
When I first walked into the room, I noticed the extractor fan noise from the restaurant below. I am guessing it’s to vent smoke and cooking smells. I wasn’t sure if it would keep me awake, but closing the windows helped, and when I came back from my evening out, the fan was off. I slept really well, and while it was on again in the morning, I’m not sure when it started as it never disturbed me.
The room was on the warm side but there was a fan provided, which was great, although it could do with a dust. I even tried cleaning it myself using the in-room hair dryer. The bathroom was clean and spacious with excellent shower pressure. I even took a bath, which I rarely do, and the bath and shower gel provided was lovely. Shampoo was provided but no conditioner, which was an interesting choice, but not a big issue.
The location was perfect, and there were no problems getting in after the doors were locked at night. One small thing: when I came back during the day, the cleaners had been in and did an excellent job, but they had left my room unlocked. It wasn’t a huge worry as I hadn’t left anything valuable out and only other guests can access the corridor, but it is something to keep in mind.
Overall, it was miles better than my Airbnb experience. Comfortable, well located, and with a delicious breakfast. I would definitely stay here again.

We went there on a busy night and the staff quickly found us a table. We got three very different dishes and they all tasted amazing. Excellent service, attentive staff and a lively atmosphere

We ate here with four people on a Sunday evening during peak summer season. The menu was generally good, with an interesting range of choice and options for vegans. We had one sirloin steak, one monkfish risotto, and two of the chickpea and harissa salad. The service was good and food arrived promptly. The food itself was tasty and generally well-cooked, with a few issues:
- The two salads were both missing two of the key ingredients mentioned on the menu (walnuts and sun-dried tomatoes).
- The steak was ordered rare, and came as an optimistic medium at best - but it was a good quality cut of beef and tasty. The menu said it included fried mushrooms and spinach, as well as fried onions, but when it arrived there were only five tiny pieces of mushroom and three lonely spinach leaves in a pile of onion.
- The monkfish was advertised as being served with asparagus, but none was visible. When we raised this the manager objected that "you'd never serve spears of asparagus on a risotto" - claiming that it was finely chopped in with the rice. What point is there to including asparagus if it's not evident and cannot be tasted? If it was present it was a very stingy quantity, and from experience in much more upmarket restaurants, you can, and should, serve asparagus as heads or spears with risotto - it certainly appeared to be attempted cost saving.
For dessert we had two of the chocolate coconut tart, which was excellent, a popcorn caramel sundae which was also good, and a Belgian waffle - which was okay, but somewhat crunchy/chewy giving the impression it was a pre-made (bought in?) waffle that'd been reheated, rather than fresh.
We raised the issues with the mains before ordering dessert, and we watched the waitress who we spoke to go and talk to the manager. He then studiously ignored us until we came to settle up, at which point we had to raise it again with a second waitress, who brought him over - he didn't acknowledge that we'd already raised the topic, and was somewhat defensive of our criticism - but did take a reasonable amount off our bill.
Overall, if Kenmare had only a couple of restaurants, I would not be too put off from eating there again - but given the variety of choice that exists in that area it wouldn't be my first recommendation to a friend!

Lovely place that we have been for drinks before as we live locally, so we popped in for dinner with sister in law and hubby while they were visiting , food really delicious, just one negative, my guest likes to drink Prosecco, but it was €14 a glass, so two glasses €28!!! We felt that was over the top.. normally €10 is a max for a glass.. why??

Esta es una gran casa de huéspedes. Es cálido, acogedor y aunque está en el centro de la ciudad, también es tranquilo. Tuvimos un gran desayuno con una amplia variedad de ofertas. Gracias y volveremos.
