Donatello's Restaurant in Maynooth

What a delight of an Italian restaurant! The place came highly recommended by 2 friends who are regulars there. In particular we heard great things about cocktails and pasta carbonara. The place has a nice warm atmosphere that welcomes you as soon as you enter. There's a nice feeling of a proper Italian trattoria. Staff is kind and very attentive. Menu very large and full of things that we were delighted to find as they are not that usual. As I was designated driver that night I opted for a mocktail and found it really really nice. A very nice warm bruschetta was my starter and I really enjoyed it. I am not sure whether they didn't add the anchovies that were supposed to be one of the toppings or they just melted in the mozzarella but the final result didn't suffer. I am told the prawns were delicious. When it came to the main, I preferred to opt for tagliatelle with mushrooms & gorgonzola as it's a combo that I really really love. They were very good and also a lot of food. Our friends were so nice that they allowed me to try the carbonara and I must say it is as enjoyable as they described it! I wish we managed to order also a dessert but by the end of the main we were all too full to have more food. Definitely a place we'll want to visit again.

Food was okey but in my opinion was overpriced for that customer experience. You wait for your food really long time unless it's not a pizza ..

Great food, great atmosphere and Madison our waiter made the night even better and as entertaining as possible. Would highly recommend.

Really good food.. give a big round of applause to global warming for allowing us to dine comfortably on the terrace in October..try the Pate and seafood dishes ..book !! It gets crowded

Very good food and friendly staff

What a great experience recently. Early bird menu was exceptional on value, and the portion size was for the early bird was very good. Meal was very enjoyable. Staff, atmosphere, with the cocktail around €11 were fantastic.

5.50 a bottle of still water. Bit over the top. Food is good

For starters we ordered. INSALATA CAPRESE DI BUFFALO. BRUSCHETTA DI POMODORO. CROSTINI DONATELLO. Our favourite was the crostini donatello. The insalata caprese appeared to have no dressing. For the main we ordered. POLLO RUSTICANA. MARGHERTIA CON MOZZARELLA DI BUFFALA. The pollo rusticana was very disappointing. The potatoes were watery with no flavouring. The chicken was stringy. For the price it was not good. The pizza was very good. Had some great cocktails. Next time I would sit at the bar and order cocktails and some starters.

not eaten at donatellos for years but got a pizza for takeaway this evening. very very impressed! proper neopolitan pizza, perfect dough, great toppings absolutely delicious. even better than I remember. fair play guys.

Great atmosphere, great staff who couldn't do enough for our family and excellent food. We were there for a graduation and really enjoyed it.
