Overall it was good and was surprised to find the restaurant packed at 530pm. The smoked goat cheese was delicious, punchy smoked goat cheese taste paired surprisingly well with a coconut polenta. The next highlight was the lamb rump - really grill well with such a difficult cut and quality of the lamb was good. I think the let down for me was the ribeye - it wasn’t bad but it’s not exceptionally good and the butter that was torched at the top didn’t do much of the trick.

I have eaten here three times now, and each experience has been better than the prior. If you’re a lover of smokehouse cuisine then it’s a “must go” restaurant for Cork. 10/10 Would highly recommend! Ps. (FAO: management) One minor issue, please Sharpen your steak knives.

Fantastic food. Over 2 nights we had ribs, T-bone steak, Rib Eye, chips and fried green tomatoes. All faultless. If they served the fried green tomatoes as a main course I'd line up to get them.... they were delicious! Try the beer tasting tray. Angel stout was our favourite. I wish we lived locally.......

We had a table at the counter. The starters were very tasty and creative. The mains were tasty but a little bit less satisfing. The 4 beer tasting set was nicely described and delicious. The staff were extremly friendly and they even got us a table for the next day at the partner restaurant, goldie. In total I would highly recommend the place for any foodie.

Great place, great vibe, but is now 'off the wall' price wise! 44 Euro for a ribeye steak and chips with little else on the plate is just nuts and the wine prices now start at about 40 Euro. I simply felt a little foolish spending over 130 Euro for 2 main courses and a bottle of wine even though we really enjoyed it!

The Long Valley

04/07/2026: As a proud Corkman who lives only 10 minutes away, I’m almost embarrassed to admit that today was my first time eating in the Long Valley. I’d tried a few times before, but it was always packed—which says a lot about the place. I’m delighted I finally made it in. The food was excellent, the portions were generous, and the staff were friendly, welcoming and professional. To top it all off, the bill was incredibly reasonable for the quality and amount of food. It’s easy to see why this place has such a great reputation. A proper Cork institution that’s well worth a visit. I’ll definitely be back—those sandwiches have more than earned their reputation as some of the best in Cork.
