Firecastle Kildare in Kildare

Giving 5 stars for really tasty coffee! (Even though the location wasn't my favourite.) The coffee was very tasty - I am a lover of independent coffee shops versus coffee chains, so I am always on the lookout for new indie coffee shops when I travel. While away on business, I looked up 'best coffee shops in Kildare' - alot seemed to be in Celbridge/Naas, but I saw that Firecastle and Silken Thomas were recommended in Kildare Town. The look of Firecastle's shopfront appealed to me more, so I decided to go with Firecastle. The coffee was lovely and the treats on the counter looked delish! Firecastle also offers restaurant sit-down options as well as gifts and baked goods. The gifts they were selling appeared to be provided by small businesses which was great to see, even if the gifts were on the pricier side. All in all, I think Firecastle is a lovely, upmarket addition to a town that looks somewhat deprived and appears to be struggling in some areas.

Food and drink was excellent service

Lovely deli/café with fab range of wholesome foods and delicious coffee. There is also a well stocked food and gift shop, lovely outdoor seating and more indoor seating now. It would be perfect if the layout was more accessible for mobility challenged customers. Not nice having to get diners to move just so you can access a table. Staff are helpful and friendly 😊

The room was so nice and had the cathedral and garden view from the window. The beds comfortable and the shower is class. Very quiet too I believe from the sound proofing. Some nice pictures in the room. The staff were so friendly, helpful and upbeat. I would heartily recommend.

The accommodation was great but the cafe itself was a total let down. Asked for cappuccino extra hot they came out Luke warm. I had already sent back my shashuka because the eggs were hard boiled rubber! So I didn’t want to be that difficult customer sending the coffee back too. The whole point of shashuka is to dip in your bread. Total let down so I asked them to remake it. They said, ‘that’s how we make it!’. Okay. Maybe check the recipe and how to make shashuka. Anyway I settled for the sausage roll. Not too impressive either. I asked for it heated up. The middle was cold. Excellent accommodation but I would most definitely give the cafe a skip. Staff were very friendly and accommodating. Such a pity the quality of breakfast/brunch was just overall BAD.

Perfect location for pre-Christmas trip to Dublin and Kildare

We had the best stay at Firecastle! So conveniently located to Kildare village, lots of little pubs nearby and Harte's restaurant was just superb. Beds were super comfy and breakfast the next day was delicious- we will definitely be back.
