30/03/2024: My boyfriend and I are visiting in Kildare and walked past this place on our way into town. We decided to have breakfast here and MY GOSH the vegan options were EXCELLENT!!! we got the vegan French toast and vegan potato, red pepper, and onion hash. Highly recommend, 10/10! 😁❤️

01/04/2024: Pop in for Breakfast, and it didn't disappoint. Plenty of choice in the menu and very reasonably priced. Staff were all lovely. Food was fab and great portions, too. Will definitely be back again.

21/03/2024: Really fab meal in O'Dooles tonight; whiskey sour to start (amazing to get a decent cocktail in kildare), I had the black pudding and apple tartlet to start, pork for main and custard tart for dessert. Really impressed with the quality of the ingredients, the thoughtfulness of the dishes, and the variety on the menu. Top tier service from Ian and Nicky, and honestly was surprised at the price of the weeknight menu, really great value for a three course meal of this quality. Highly recommend.

30/03/2024: I really want to appreciate the fact that chicken tenders for kids, are actually made from fresh chicken not a battered frozen kind of food. We'll done on keeping good food standard for our young people!

15/03/2024: Giving 5 stars for really tasty coffee! (Even though the location wasn't my favourite.) The coffee was very tasty - I am a lover of independent coffee shops versus coffee chains, so I am always on the lookout for new indie coffee shops when I travel. While away on business, I looked up 'best coffee shops in Kildare' - alot seemed to be in Celbridge/Naas, but I saw that Firecastle and Silken Thomas were recommended in Kildare Town. The look of Firecastle's shopfront appealed to me more, so I decided to go with Firecastle. The coffee was lovely and the treats on the counter looked delish! Firecastle also offers restaurant sit-down options as well as gifts and baked goods. The gifts they were selling appeared to be provided by small businesses which was great to see, even if the gifts were on the pricier side. All in all, I think Firecastle is a lovely, upmarket addition to a town that looks somewhat deprived and appears to be struggling in some areas.

Staff are so friendly and the coffee is delicious ☕😋 the chai is also amazing 😍 very consumer price friendly too, when you consider that competitors are charging an arm and a leg for an Americano! Convenience in a cup

02/04/2024: Not sure what's changed recently but my last few drink-in visits involved listening to multiple barking dogs as I tried to have a conversation. The place has low ceilings and reflective surfaces so the barking is very intrusive. I don't enjoy having to put up with the stink of dog in the customer area either or dogs of all sizes being allowed by their owners to roam between tables. Today an owner (and cafe staff) allowed 1 large dog to put their front paws up on the counter as the owner ordered their drink. Pretty disgusting from a hygiene perspective. The cafe owner needs to realise that a significant portion of their customer base are not dog lovers and don't like being forced to interact with random dogs in a confined space while trying to have a quiet coffee or conversation. I like the coffee in here, but they've seriously screwed the pooch with their overly permissive "dog friendly" policy. Will see if anything changes, but I'll be getting my coffee elsewhere until a better balance is achieved.

30/03/2024: Travelling from London , saw this place and thought I’d give it try .. blown away by the friendliness of staff and the coffee .. amazing experience.. make sure you visit for the best coffee in town ☕️

10/03/2024: Nice pub with good character. It can get crowded quite quickly but the main bar with open fire has a warm friendly atmosphere. Unfortunately it is hard to get a seat in this area but plenty of other seated areas just off this room. Nice pint of guinness served here.Would probably have got a 5 star rating for me except for the fact that it is hard to get a seat here if busy.

03/04/2024: Pity you can only give 5 stars 🌟. I came here with my daughter for lunch. The diner bowl is amazing,healthy and fresh. I didn't get his name but the fella with the dreadlocks was the star of the show. He was amazing at explaining the menu the picking the correct ingredients. He even let my daughter try 3 sauces u till she found one she liked. He needs a raise and a recognition. Thank you for making are day

09/03/2024: The food was very tasty. I understand that its very busy and the staff might be doing long hours and be feeling pretty tired, but the spirits are DOWN. No "enjoy your food" no "thank you" or anything. Would be nice to see some form of smiles on their faces :) Also, this isnt anything for the place or staff, people seem to be quite comfortable sitting in a 4 seater table and putting their bags on the other chairs. Even if there are empty tables, there ends up being nowhere to sit. Be considerate peepz 🙌🏻
