24/05/2026: Hartes has been one of my favorite places to eat for a decade, but over the last year or two, the standards have noticeably slipped. During a recent visit for Sunday lunch, the service was lacking; no one came to check on our meal, and we had to ask for basic table settings like salt and pepper. The food itself was incredibly disappointing. The horseradish mentioned on the menu was missing entirely, and the dish lacked the warmth you'd expect, tasting as though it had been sitting under a heat lamp. The roast potatoes were easily the worst I’ve had—soggy and practically tasteless. To top it off, the portions were tiny despite the expensive price tag. Overall, the food has become mediocre. It completely lacks the flair and originality that made Hartes so special years ago.

22/05/2026: My wife and I wandered in here while in Kildate town. What a find. Food was outstanding, great menu (spoiled for choice), very reasonably priced. It was a Thursday, 5.30-6ish, and the place was packed by 7. Many Restaurant Association Awards on the wall as you walk in, I can see why. Great to find a place putting out that level of quality so near to where we live.

13/06/2026: Amazing place to watch the Canada game! The atmosphere was fantastic, and the owner (I believe) was very friendly and welcoming. Everything was well organized for the match, and the whole experience was great. Highly recommended for sports fans! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

12/06/2026: I have been a long time customer and patron of Cunninghams since forever, but I have not been able to patronize the Saint- Anne place in over 2 1/2 years. On Wednesday, on a whim, me and my brother decide to have lunch after an appointment I had . We where greatly disappointed with our food. The decors has not changed, it wasn't crowded nor overly loud. Starting with the good, the beer was cold and went down easily! It was cool inside and seating was plentiful. Now for the bad, the food was mediocre and generic. The burger tasted like it came from McDonald's ( salty!, yet no flavor), the Philly cheese steak the same. It lacked seasoning, the bun was cold, the " cheese" sauce was lava hot. The fries use to be my favorite, but had one we had tasted stale, with an after taste of burnt frying oil. The service was OK, but slow despite not being busy. I will have to think twice about going back in the near future. Sorry.

06/06/2026: Embarrassing business. Gave out to me because they took my order wrong. Would have been happy if they just changed the order. Taking it to socials shows their immaturity. Dont go here.

11/01/2026: Unbelievably good drive-thru coffee, tasty treats and absolutely lovely staff.... with a different dad joke on the board every day. They also do Squid points. If you love coffee, you'll love this place.

10/11/2025: Great to see a restaurant of this standard in Kildare. With the Hangman’s closed, we’ve been short of somewhere special locally, and O’Dooles has definitely stepped up. It’s a proper night-out spot – not just a pub meal. We had a group of 15 last night and everything was excellent. Service was friendly and attentive without being over the top, the atmosphere was relaxed, and the place is spotless. The wine list is well chosen and fairly priced, drinks looked great, and the food was full of flavour across all courses. We also had a coeliac with us and the kitchen handled it perfectly – clear communication, careful preparation, and a gluten-free starter made fresh, which was very much appreciated. It’s great to have somewhere like this on our doorstep in Kildare. Highly recommended and we’ll definitely be back.

07/11/2025: We had a really lovely experience in O'Dooles restaurant for my brother’s birthday. The staff were fantastic and the food was amazing from start to finish. Great cocktail menu and lovely bar area for a pre dinner drink. Margarita was fab. The prawn starter was delish and the chickpea fritter to start was exceptional. Everyone enjoyed the main courses the Seabass for me was perfect and so flavorsome and my brother was very happy with the Veal chop. Desserts were great and the Cheeseboard - we are all still thinking about it! Great atmosphere in the restaurant. We can’t wait to go back. Thanks again to all the team at O’Dooles!

20/05/2026: Best cafe in Kildare Town. Anna is great and one of the friendliest faces in Kildare Town, she'll never greet you without a smile and the same goes for everyone else working there. Colm, Nick, Caitlin and Kate are some of the best people you'll meet. The coffee is great, not one food item is substandard and it's always so quiet even at full capacity.

26/06/2025: Popped into JB Mahoney recently and honestly, what a find. It’s got that rare mix of proper character and a genuinely warm atmosphere that makes you feel like a regular, even if it’s your first visit. The Guinness? Spot on, creamy, smooth, poured with care. You can tell they take pride in it, which is more than you can say for a lot of places. And if you haven’t tried the Algerian, you’re missing out – bold, rich, and absolutely delicious. A proper pint to remember. The bar staff are brilliant, friendly, funny, and somehow manage to keep everything running smoothly even when it's packed. Even, the teachers chap I was speaking to inside. JB Mahoney’s strikes that perfect balance: welcoming, down-to-earth, but with real quality behind the bar. Whether you're in for a quiet one or a few rounds with mates, this place just gets it right.

27/06/2026: This was a pleasent surprise. All the food was excellent and very tastey fair play to who ever sources the food. The tea came in a large pot that did not leak. The apple juice was excellent and tasted of fresh apples. Good space between the tables. Comfortable seats. Polite and friendly staff. Nothing to fault on our first visit here.
