Fish was ok nothing special, very small portions for that price, seems to be a bit of a tourist trap, there are much cheaper and better in the city. Service is very good tho and nice little atmosphere.
This is my favorite restaurant. Fish and chips and wine. Crab on toast also a major highlight

Best fish and chips we have had! The staff were super welcoming and friendly. Visiting Dublin from Canada and we heard great things about Fish Shop.
All of our family loved the food and the atmosphere. Don’t show up without a reservation. They had to turn away a bunch of people while we were they because they were fully booked for the night. Well worth the effort to book in advance.

The food is excellent. The service/ greeting was a bit odd, especially in comparison with the friendly hospitality we experienced in Ireland over the prior 16 days and nights.
We reserved weeks in advance, for noon. When we arrived on time we were told that we had to sit at a depressing counter facing a wall, even though the rest of the other counter facing the bar and rest of the room was completely open. We resisted that, and were told well OK, but you will have to vacate within an hour.
We accepted that, and had a lovely lunch. In the meantime, over the next hour, just a few more people came in, and there was plenty space, including some empty chairs, at the main counter overlooking the bar.
In the meantime, the woman who seemed to be in charge was constantly coughing, sometimes directly into her hands, in between finishing various dishes at the counter. She should not have been there that day.
Excellent dining — but problematic hospitality.

I’ve been coming here with friends for the last couple of years, and it’s always been a favourite. This time was special — first time bringing my girlfriend, and I’d hyped it up quite a bit. Thankfully, she said afterward, “It was all true.” Always a relief when a place lives up to the hype!
We had two haddock fish and chips — crispy batter, flaky fish, generous portions — spot on. A real standout was the smoked Gruyère cheese tartar sauce they use in the croquettes. It’s rich, creamy, and gives the whole dish a lovely depth.
They’ve got a surprisingly big wine list for a casual place, and the staff really know what they’re doing. We went with their house white, and it was a perfect match for all the food — fresh, easy-drinking, and just right with seafood.
The scallops were excellent — buttery and full of flavour. One of the staff suggested using the leftover juices from the scallops as a dipping sauce for the haddock, which my girlfriend absolutely loved. She even passed over some of her homemade tartar sauce to me — big win on my end, no need to order extra.
We also had the calamari (no photo, sorry!) — juicy, soft, with a nice light batter. It came with a little lemony mayo-style dip that worked really well. Definitely a dish I’d recommend.
And while we were enjoying everything, we noticed just how popular the place is — at least seven people came in trying to get a table, but it was fully booked. No surprise.
If you’re thinking of going, book ahead. It’s always worth it — and I’ll definitely be back again soon.

Fabulosa comida.
