Friends Bistro in Westport

One word: amazing. Had dinner in this fabulous restaurant twice in August 26. There was great menu choices and further daily specials. The quality of the food- starters, mains and dessert - was second to none. The service was friendly and helpful, making us feel very relaxed. Would highly recommend

We presented without a booking and the lovely owner hastily came up with a solution that worked for everyone. His brother Vasile was our wonderful waiter for the night and he could not have been more helpful! My husband is Vegan, and Vasile checked with the chef re a vegan starter which was fantastic… he also recommended the gourmet risotto for me, and it didn’t disappoint… it was absolutely fantastic… with no shortage of seafood… the best meal I’ve had out in several years in Ireland… no room for dessert, but I’m sure it’s equally as pleasing ❣️ Don’t miss this wonderful experience if you come to Westport. As an add on… we bumped in to Vasile later in the night and he told us he found a (precious) photo on the floor after we left… and will kindly forward on an electronic copy… above and beyond 💚

Excellent restaurant in Westport! We didn't have a reservation, and the maître d' found us a table at the last minute. The servers were welcoming and added a touch of energy to our meal. If we return to the area, we will definitely come back, both for the friendly atmosphere and for the food and wines on offer. Thank you for this wonderful experience in Westport.

The food is delicious and the service is good, but the waiters need a little more of a smile. It's a cozy place, but we waited about 20-30 minutes for food, which is a normal waiting time for me

Excellent restaurant where you can finally enjoy seafood or local fish that hasn't been fried. Everything is prepared with care, the portions are generous, and the taste is delicious. The wine selection is varied, and the recommendations are invaluable. All this comes with a very warm and enthusiastic welcome. Thank you to the entire team. The awards received are well deserved.

The atmosphere is lovely and the food is great. The owner is a real showman and knows how to make you feel you home. Super suggested.

Disappointed 2nd visit, on visiting family so looking forward to returning to this restaurant, unfortunately not quite the same , Standard , young waiter seemed very uninterested in the guests , very busy which may have been the reason , expensive but I felt not worth the money on this visit .

Friends Bistro was one of the highlights of our trip to Westport and is an absolute must-visit if you’re looking for dinner in the area. We managed to get a booking on the day for 7:30pm and were seated downstairs. The restaurant has a lovely intimate feel, and once it filled up it had such a warm, cosy atmosphere. The service was exceptional from start to finish. George, who looked after us, was incredibly welcoming and genuinely passionate about the food and wine. He recommended a lovely French rosé and even told us about another rosé arriving the following week, saying to call ahead and he’d make sure to have it available for us. It’s those little personal touches that really make a difference. Before our mains we were treated to a delicious complimentary amuse-bouche of toasted sourdough with sun-dried tomato butter and garlic olives, which was a lovely surprise. The food itself was outstanding. The sea bass was cooked perfectly with a rich chorizo and vegetable accompaniment, sweet potato purée and roasted baby potatoes. The steak was excellent too, but I have to mention the mashed potato—it was genuinely some of the best I’ve ever had. Velvety, buttery and incredibly smooth; the kind of side dish you end up talking about long after the meal. The portions were so generous that we only managed a main course each, but everything was beautifully presented and cooked with real care. Friendly service, fantastic food, generous portions and a wonderful atmosphere. We’ll definitely be back next time we’re in Westport.
