The food was really really nice. I definitely will be back again. This is my second visit over the last while and definitely hasn't disappointed either time.

This is a really great bar, it's quirky with an old fashioned bar vibe, lots of old drinks related memorabilia to look at while enjoying a drink. The food was delicious and big portions too! The staff are very welcoming.

If I lived closer this would probably be one of my favourite pubs. I had 2 starters, a pint of Guinness, and a coffee. Everything was great Guinness and coffee, although the food was a touch disappointing. It is a very good looking pub, just 50 metres from the Shannon river. If I ever get back, I will try one of the entrees. The staff were very friendly and helpful.

Our second time to dine in Gertie's and sadly not as impressed with the food as the last. My husband had chicken wings for starter- 5 wings in portion. He had turkey and ham for mains - the corners of the turkey turning up and drenched in gravy. My mains tagliatelle carbonate was very greasy. Sadly we will give Gertie's a miss when visiting Athlone again.

The decor has an old library feel, which makes the dining experience very enjoyable. The service and quality of the food was exceptional. When I come back I will definitely be a returning customer.

I got the special ,wasn’t so special ,chicken nachos well there was only one bit chicken on the plate wouldnt feeed one child not one bit pleased they need to switch on

16/07/2025: Went for my 30th birthday meal here, they brought out a brownie and sang the happy birthday song, really lovely night. Food was perfectly cooked and service was terrific 👌 thankyou all very very much
03/07/2025: We had a very delicious dinner at the Riverview Bistro. It’s very conveniently located a few doors down from Sean’s Bar in Athlone. Very nicely decorated inside and a menu with a variety of items. Also kid friendly

22/07/2025: Athlone Towncentre is one of the best shopping centres in the Midlands. It’s clean, modern, and has a great mix of shops – from well-known brands like Zara, H&M, and M&S to lovely smaller boutiques. The layout is easy to navigate, and everything is well signposted. The staff throughout the centre, including security and cleaning teams, are always friendly and helpful. I also love that there are plenty of spots to grab a coffee or a bite to eat — The Fatted Calf nearby is a real treat if you're looking for something a bit special. There’s plenty of parking, and it's right in the town centre, so it’s very handy if you're combining your shopping with other errands. Always a pleasant visit! Highly recommend for locals and visitors alike.
