Gertie Browne in Athlone

If you’re in Athlone, you have to visit this place! The food is gorgeous, the staff are incredibly friendly ,every single one of them. they’re pet-friendly too. We stopped for lunch with our little puppy and felt so welcome from the moment we arrived. We left happy and had such a great experience. Highly recommend!

Food was superb, i had steak sandwich which was the best i had in a long time and my friend had fish and chips, light crispy and fresh. Drink selection was vast, cocktails, non alcoholic, beers and lovely wines. Service was excellent! Managers was both welcoming and a perfect host, offering us all the information needed for a tourist. In conclusion, highly recommend!

Highly recommend this pub/ restaurant. I have celiac and they were incredibly accommodating. The fish and chips were amazing and so was the stew. Hands down the best food/ atmosphere in Ireland. Thank you Paul!

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ | Exceptional Easter Dinner Experience! We visited Gertie Brownes for our family Easter dinner, and it was truly the highlight of our weekend. If you are looking for an authentic, traditional Irish pub experience in Athlone, this is the place to be. The first thing we noticed was how spotless and clean the entire bistro is—it’s clearly very well-maintained. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, but what really sets this place apart is the staff. They were incredibly charming and welcoming, making us feel right at home from the moment we walked through the door. As for the menu, the food and beer were top-notch and unbeatable. Every dish was delicious, and the service was stellar throughout the evening. It’s rare to find a spot that balances great hospitality with such high-quality standards. They deserve all the best customers! We can’t recommend them enough and will definitely be back soon !
