Tried to eat there last night and it was PACKED! Had my dinner there tonight so…upon entering I was accommodated at a table that was reserved; yes I was informed it was reserve for 2 hrs later. Fair as I was alone so it wasn’t an issue. The staff were exceptional! So kind and considerate. My meal came SO fast & thank goodness for that because I was starving. My salad was fresh and tasty! Nice chunks of avocado too. My chicken supreme was SO SO GOOD! I normally don’t eat cauliflower so I gave it a taste tonight and ended up eating it. That goes to show on how well prepared everything was right down to the cauliflower. Highly recommend when in Cork!

Very good food, i noticed many bad reviews mostly about the price being too high, if people complain about it being too much they should go to the local chippers. Very good service and interior.

Oh, dear readers, let me tell you about a place whose ambivalence both challenges and demands my judgment. For while in some respects it has the virtues of a fine establishment, in others it completely eludes the demands of quality I'm accustomed to for such an establishment. The ambiance, oh, the ambiance! It is truly a place of noble appeal, pleasant and classy at the same time, a refuge for those who wish to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life. One can truly spend a good time here, whether alone for quiet contemplation or productive work. Particularly noteworthy is the coffee that can be enjoyed outside the bistro—a delight for the senses. But alas, the coffee served within the walls can hardly maintain this standard. It is, how shall I say, of a mediocre nature—a minor blemish in an otherwise commendable setting. The service, however, deserves my recognition. It is friendly, fast, and efficient, always striving to serve guests with the necessary attention. Contrary to some other reports complaining of long waits, I have so far been spared such inconveniences. But, oh reader, let's come to the real bone of contention: the food. What a disappointment, what an outrage against the palate of the discerning guest! Inedible, I say, with all regret. It completely defies the quality I would expect from an establishment of this caliber and makes it impossible to recommend this place as a gastronomic destination. So my judgment remains divided. For drinks, undisturbed work, and the elegant ambiance – truly suitable. But for food? An absolute failure. So, with consideration and fairness, I award 3 out of 5 stars. May the kitchen reconsider its art so that this place may unfold the full potential of its splendor.

11/11/2025: Generous food portions and great service! We visited on a rainy day, so we ended up sitting indoors, but the atmosphere was still lovely. Would love to come back and try the terrace seating next time; it looks like the perfect spot to enjoy a nice meal with a view.
26/10/2025: I found myself visiting family in County Cork, out by Midleton. On a lazy Sunday morning, I decided to take a drive out to Cork city and grab brunch at a place I had read about. Salt is a great little neighbourhood spot. Small but well formed, the place can’t help but be welcoming. I was served by Lizzie, who made me feel as if this was my umpteenth visit. I ordered a flat white, orange juice, and the Huevos Ranchero… and boy, what a breakfast that was! Truly filling, warming, and set me up for a day out to Blarney and beyond. Salt is a great spot in Cork.

05/12/2025: Really nice place. You get a seat right away. Service is good and fast. They also bring your food out fast. But there are 2 things holding them back from a better rating from me. The first is the notes for customers. At first is seems nice. It's like a "be nice or we won't serve you" which I can respect. I've run my own business and I know how abusive customers can be, and I can't even imagine how that would be in a bar. But the number of notes, absolutely everywhere. On several walls. Over the bar. Little ones tucked into the menu. I can't look anywhere in there without seeing them. After the first one or two, it changed from being nice to kind of harassing. I'm just trying to enjoy my meal. Why am I getting all these signs in my face everywhere? And still I could have gotten over it but for the food experience I had. Fish and chips. I ordered fish and chips. Maybe it's a cliche, but I grew up in a fishing town and I really love me some fish and chips. ive had a few hit and miss fish and chips around town. But this truly was the worst plate of fish and chips I have had in my life. The grease was disgusting. Pressing a finger on the batter made grease flow out in a waterfall. And the chips were worse. They were pale and undercooked. I don't think I've ever experienced that. The chips I couldn't eat at all. But I managed to eat the fish. I was not in a state for fighting with the kitchen to get a better meal because I was having some low blood sugar and came in with a serious need for some food immediately. I don't like to send food back, but if my brain hadn't been numb from a low blood sugar, I would have done it, and it would have been a first for me at anything other than a fast food place. I've eaten food here before and it was great. I don't know what happened this day or if their fish and chips is always like this. But I'm not spending that many euros to give them a second chance. That's for sure.
29/11/2025: Very good dinner, no room available when we arrived, the owner found a solution with humor and kindness.
