What an absolute gem 💎 of a place, such great atmosphere, friendly staff and the location is just superb. Drinks were great, they even serve Murphys though in Kerry 😆 we enjoyed every minute, definitely will be back.

The location of Helens Bar is simply amazing. It's about 20 minutes outside Kenmare at Kilmacalogue pier. Much of the seating is actually on the pier. We phoned the day before and luckily they had a vacancy. The food was excellent, freshly cooked and very reasonably priced. The staff were very pleasant. A pint of Murphy's only 4.50😉. We paid 80 euro for B&B for 2 people. The room was small and basic, the shower ran out of water in the morning. The breakfast was freshly made and very tasty, 3 options & muesli and cornflakes. Overall a fantastic experience, we will be back 🙏

We went here last night and it's as good as the reviews say it is. We had mussels for starter and then fish and chips all cooked perfectly. The guinness is also perfect and the very friendly staff made for a great night out. Many thanks from a very happy couple.

Had a wonderful family lunch here on Sunday. The food was superb and amazingly good value! The staff are super friendly & efficient and Helen herself is a real gem! Went out of her way to show me an old photograph of my grandad which is one of many photographs of local history on display - it made my birthday extra special. Thank you 🙏 Helen.

06/08/2026: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ What an incredible dining experience at John J. Burke's in Clonbur! The food was absolutely outstanding from start to finish. We had the burgers, which were cooked to perfection and packed with flavour. My daughter had the fish and chips, and she said it was one of the best she's ever had. We couldn't leave without trying dessert, and we're so glad we did! From the rich chocolate brownie to the freshly made cheesecake, everything was homemade and simply delicious. Honestly, it's some of the best food we've had since dining in Michelin-starred restaurants in Abu Dhabi. The quality, freshness, and attention to detail were exceptional. The atmosphere was just as wonderful as the food, with traditional Irish music creating the perfect warm and welcoming setting. A huge compliment to everyone at John J. Burke's. We will definitely be back and highly recommend it to anyone visiting Clonbur! Thanks again Steven, Alison Willow from Donegal ❤️

15/09/2026: Stopped here for a spot of lunch on a busy Saturday. Our food came quickly and was absolutely delicious. This was my first time having Irish stew and it did not disappoint!! The flavour was rich and you could tell it was good quality ingredients. Meat wasn’t too chewy and practically melted in the mouth. My partner had a burger and fries which he really enjoyed. I also loved dipping a few of his fries into my stew!! Would come again :)
