Herbert Fisheries in Killarney

We drove up this morning and I swear they keep getting better and better. The best pickerel we have ever had. Generous portions. Jenny and staff are always so welcoming.

It's okay to eat some fish and chips. The Fish was very good, the Chips not crispy and a little bit boring. The Chicken Wings were not good. It's self-service but the lady at the order counter was nice. It's more like a snack bar than a restaurant.

Perhaps the best fish and chips I’ve ever had including in Newfoundland. Staff was amazing.

We love to visit at least once a summer.. The meal has risen sharply in price in recent years.. but is still very much worth it..fish is delicious 👍

You can tell the ingredients are handled with care, and there’s something about the way they prepare it that gives off a very homemade, local feel rather than a big chain or overly polished restaurant vibe. The service matched the atmosphere—pretty simple and nothing fancy, but very genuine. The staff were kind and welcoming in a way that felt natural, like you’re being looked after by locals who actually care about their community. It wasn’t over the top or overly formal, but it fit the setting perfectly. One of my favorite parts was the outdoor deck right beside the restaurant. They’ve got picnic tables set up where you can sit and enjoy your meal, and it makes the whole experience feel much more relaxed. Eating outdoors with fresh air around you really adds to the charm. Overall, I think what stood out the most for me wasn’t just the food but the whole atmosphere. The freshness of the meal combined with that authentic local vibe made it memorable, even if it wasn’t the absolute best fish and chips in the world. It’s the kind of place I’d happily go back to just for the experience.

Expensive, but some of the best fried fish I've had 5/5. I just go the fish, skipping the fries. Comes with pre-fab tartar - not homemade 😢

Indeed fishes are the best here. Smaller pieces allow better frying. Local fishes just add unique tastes. Seems lots of local people are dinning there as well, not just visitors. The facilities shall consider some expansion and upgrades. The place is quite crowded, same as a few years at our first visit.

I can barely remember a better, fresher, tastier white fish
