Beautifully bonkers place. Visit each year for gigs at Kilkenomics as they have a tiny upstairs venue. Oh. Cash only. Be aware.

What a great place! The owner was super personable and interesting. We visited from the Us and did it k ow a whole lot about Ireland and let me tell you, he and some other Irish gentlemen had plenty of history to share. It was a LOT of fun! 10 out of 10 recommend!

Our experience was SUPER. Michael is a very pleasant host....we truly had a unique surprising evening. We had the pleasure of listening and interacting with "Wrong Direction" , a local duet from Kilkenny who provided a true memorial evening. It was a blast.

Not much in the way of food but this has to be one of my favorites so far in Ireland. Michael is a great storyteller and he makes you feel at home. There was a music show upstairs he encouraged us to attend and it made for a magical evening. This place has soul. Also make sure you bring cash.

A unique bar, very few bars like it so drop in for a drink and a chat. Very welcoming bar where chatting with strangers is encouraged. Bring cash and enjoy the medieval setting

Fantastically small, but such a large presence. The bar keep (Miles) was fantastic and very knowledgeable of the bars' history, and the atmosphere was welcoming and fun. When you come in, you definitely have to walk around and look throughout the building. This is a historical building, and the love and care for it is impressive. Thank you for such a fun night. We will definitely be back.

So, first off, let me begin by saying I have worked and managed bars and gastro pubs in Ireland, Australia and London for over 15 years, so I can be a bit of a harsh critic when is comes to pubs, which is why I rarely leave any reviews. But having said that, I have decided in this case, I would.
With my experience I know when I hit on a good pub, and ladies and gentlemen this pub is a good mudder tucking pub.
We actually followed the chef from the last place he was, which was our local that devastatingly closed down (money grubbing landlord!!). so when we found out he was now in The Hole in the Wall we had to go and let me tell you we were not disappointed.
the interior is cozy barn, country mishmash cool, with lots of lil knucks and crannies for those more intimate gathering, a great big, covered beer garden.
The staff are welcoming and friendly, it has a half decent alcohol selection that isn't crazy expensive( could maybe do with few more interesting beers but that is literally just nit picking), it has an awesome mix up of music form modern to classics and of course the food!!! The food is the icing on this delicious cake.
If you’re looking for that Friday evening after work catch up or a party, this place is perfect. With juicy smash burger, deep fried creamy Jalapeno poppers, and the most perfect steak sandbo I ever did have, there is something for everyone. Even if you’re just going for a pint, it is a super chill, welcoming environment with no pretention, it just is what it is.
So ya, go to The Hole in the Wall, get yourself some burgers and a beer and just enjoy the atmosphere.
