Hole in the Wall in Kilkenny

Always a wonderful night at the Hole in the Wall. Whether the owner Dr. Michael is tending bar or any of his employees you’re in for some wicked fun craic if you linger near the bar. Great and varied music upstairs too - last night was Irish trad lads who told stories between songs, last year it was a group of teens who I’d liken to a young Led Zeppelin!

I am an avid beer drinker and I have been to many many bars and pubs all over the world. This is without a doubt the best bar/pub and landlord in the world. It is tiny and you have no choice except to talk to other customers and the landlord. If you visit Kilkenny be sure to come here. If only there were more places like this. PS it is cash only.

Without a doubt, the best bar I've ever been to anywhere. I was visiting from Boston and had one of the best nights of my life. If you only have time for one bar in Kilkenny, this is the one. Michael, let me know if you're ever giving a talk in Boston. Would love to see it.

If you go to Kilkenny, this is a must stop! Keep in mind they don’t open until 8PM and it’s tricky to find as it’s down an alley and if it’s not open, you may think that’s not the place BUT it is. Meet the owner Michael and have a pint. He is a wealth of information and an all-around gentleman. It’s elbow to elbow downstairs but worth every minute you spend there. Be sure to ask Michael about stethoscopes…

A great and unique experience in an intimate and charming venue. We were lucky to experience great folk artists playing in the attic with a variety of instruments and genres!

Thanks for allowing us, in fact insisting, to join in the fun in your already packed pub! Memories that will cherish as one of our favorite experiences.
