Without a doubt, the best bar I've ever been to anywhere. I was visiting from Boston and had one of the best nights of my life. If you only have time for one bar in Kilkenny, this is the one. Michael, let me know if you're ever giving a talk in Boston. Would love to see it.

If you go to Kilkenny, this is a must stop! Keep in mind they don’t open until 8PM and it’s tricky to find as it’s down an alley and if it’s not open, you may think that’s not the place BUT it is. Meet the owner Michael and have a pint. He is a wealth of information and an all-around gentleman. It’s elbow to elbow downstairs but worth every minute you spend there. Be sure to ask Michael about stethoscopes…

If you can only visit one bar in Kilkenny, this is the place to go! Michael, the owner, is very welcoming and great to have a conversation with. The locals and travelers are friendly here. It's the ideal spot for a drink and a chat. I wish we had stayed longer because other pubs just don't measure up. We will definitely come back! Top notch Guinness! Cash only.

Great night of story telling from the Marakesh international storytelling circuit with Eimear the Druidess and brilliant Belfast storytellers and English ones . The bar is cash only which is even better - cash is king !

01/05/2025: The food was delish! One of the top 3 meals during our week in Ireland. We would definitely eat here again:D We had the focaccia, the baby potatoes, roast carrots, & the trout for dinner. Great service, James was attentive and was a great conversationalist. We loved everything we ordered, so just had to try their sticky toffee pudding, again one of the top 3 desserts we had during our week in Ireland:D Can't wait to come back and eat here again on our next trip!
15/11/2024: What a beautiful establishment in Kilkenny. We walked by many times and finally went in to grab some lunch. Good service and a much larger seating area (several, actually) than you’d guess from outside. Very well done interior and the food was good and reasonably priced. The lunch menu was pretty limited though. I’m sure dinner is more expansive.

25/06/2025: Stopped in for a quick visit, just enough time for a couple of beers. Very nice place, obviously a wide selection of beers.
10/05/2025: The burger was delicious, the best burger I have ever tasted. The atmosphere was spectacular, love the background music! Highly recommended!
