Absolutely stunning food and the staff were friendly and very helpful, definitely going again and would recommend to anyone, prices were fair as well given the standard of the food and service 😀 👍

Went here for my sisters 30th/Hen Party. A Party of 9. Everyone loved their food and drinks and said they would return to Galway for this restaurant alone. It was a truly lovely night.

Il Vicolo is tucked away in a gorgeous part of Galway City by the river. The atmosphere of the restaurant is expertly curated and makes for a nice evening dining experience. We walked in on short notice with no booking and were accommodated despite a full house. The staff couldn’t have provided a better service - masters in hospitality at work. My girlfriend ordered the Cod Puttanesca was packed full of flavour and was a well proportioned dish. However, the quality of ingredients for what I ordered definitely didn’t reflect my expectation from the restaurant. For example, the tomatoes in the Scoglio were not the deep red sweet blush you’d expect from Italian ingredients and didn’t really taste of anything so really let the dish down added to the fact I received a total of 2 maybe 3 prawns in what is a seafood main course. The scallops were minuscule - further testament to the sourcing of ingredients, although the flavour combinations & cookery of that dish were fantastic so only wish there was more of it. All in all, it was still a positive experience with the evening being rescued by the service provided and ending in an expertly crafted chocolate fondant dessert.

People rave about the food here. I had the 16 hour braised venison pasta, it tasted like stewing beef, don't know what I was expecting, the sauce was nice but i would prefer more chunks of veg, onion and such. My friend had the seafood pasta and was happy with it. The restaurant itself is nice, nice dim lighting. Service was quick but I found the staff spoke a little to quietly for me to hear/understand them on the spot. It's a nice place but I wouldn't go again.

IL Vicolo was our favorite meals BY FAR from our Ireland trip!! 🍝 😍 Who knew you could get some of the best Italian food in Galway, Ireland! The staff was extremely welcoming and kind and did not rush our meal by any means. The ambiance was also so romantic and warm. We got the cheese plate and everything on it was so tasty - even the items I had never tried before, like the Fig! For dinner we got the handmade pappardelle and carbonara. Everything was just right and so delicious! If you are in Galway, you NEED to visit IL Vicolo! 👏 Definitely recommend making a reservation though, because this place books up fast!
