Charming restaurant with delicious food. I was there at the end of July with my mother staying within walking distance of the restaurant, and it was one of the best meals we had during our 5 day trip in Ireland.

Seafood chowder was the chunkiest and meatiest I’ve had amazinggg so much fish and variety plus the pickles and fresh dill insane Fresh warm sweet soda bread as well and great kind service!! Thank you :)!

A very charming and cozy place. Very nicely decorated. The food is average but high-quality, typical of the area. It has an outdoor dining area.

An absolute must stop in the area. Excellent service, welcoming us at the door. Beautiful interior and delicious food. The atmosphere is truly what romance movies are made from. A little gem that is a must visit. One had the seafood chowder, the other the open ham sandwich. Both very tasty.

We were looking for fish and chips, and these were very good. Friendly welcome 30 euros for a pint and a main course

With high expectations, we entered Ivy Cottage at 5:30 and were immediately told we needed to be gone by 7:15. After being seated, we were told we needed to be gone by 7:00, an inauspicious greeting at best. Things worsened. There was a delay in our drink order…then a no-show server, who blamed us for the delay, saying we told him others were joining us. Strange and unlikely logic as we asked for a table for two. After sharing our concerns, the server became downright rude, explaining that if we ordered two side dishes, we must pay for both. Tell us something we don’t know. Perhaps make suggestions, offer appetizers… He was obviously angry and sulky, all because of his own mistake. We prepared to pay for our drinks and leave as we had little time left to eat, but the maitre d urged us to stay and “let me feed you.” We did stay. Though the rude server disappeared, service remained spotty. We had to flag down another server to order bread to accompany a fresh though underdressed salad. My lentil pie was hot but underseasoned; my partner’s halibut was perfectly cooked and topped with an interesting sauce replete with caviar. Other reviews speak of this restaurant as a wonderful place. I hope you find that true. We did not.

Our host recommended this place and we ended up going twice. Phenomenal food. For lunch we had the bacon and cabbage - the gravy was incredible, the pork so tender. When we were there for dinner, we had the fish special, locally sourced grilled fish with a delicious sweet onion and capers relish, along with grilled zucchini. The steamed veggies in garlic butter and roasted potato sides were so flavorful.
