Despite the bustling atmosphere and a staff that was clearly run off their feet, Jim Edwards in Kinsale still managed to deliver a decent experience. The place was packed, a testament to its popularity, which explains why the service felt a bit strained. However, the team did their best to keep up.
The food was solid—nothing overly fancy, just good, hearty fare, and the pints were well-poured. It's clear why this spot is so popular; it has a lively buzz that's hard to miss. While not a quiet, leisurely meal, it’s a perfectly good option for a decent bite and a quality pint in the heart of Kinsale.

Good food, friendly service from all the servers, especially María, who was always attentive to ensure we were well looked after.
This is my second time here, and I was not disappointed.

Really enjoyed the homemade lasagna. Kids cleared their plates! Friendly staff, but it's the little things that matter. Arrived quite early but we're still accommodated...plastic cups for kids (not a lot restaurants have them) so a proper kid friendly restaurant...great 90's playlist in the background and when I asked for a pint glass of Coke...I got a pint glass!

We had lunch here after taking Barry Molone's walking tour. Very friendly family-run pub. Excellent espresso martini for the wife; excellent whiskey cocktail for myself. I did not like my seafood pie, but that's on me for choosing it. It was well made, it's just not something I would like, and now I know. The other food looked great. I had a couple of the wife's chips; excellent.

€30 for prawn scampi and a liquidy fish pie, standards slipping, plenty of other good eateries in Kinsale

Unfortunately, we were waiting 30 mins to be seated for a reservation we made earlier in the week. I can understand restaurant can be busy, but that should not mean everyone is standing around for 30+ mins for their reservation. The food was decent, however the veg was brought out about 5 mins after my steak, which had gone cold at this stage.
A systematic failure in the reservation and seating process. Hoping this constructive feedback will help. Proud to support local, Irish businesses

Not many options to eat in Kinsale so checked menu online and looked decent.
Feels more of a restaurant than a “gastro pub” and (whilst this isn’t the pubs fault) it attracts some quite snobby customers who loudly complained at everything to staff.
Chips were anaemic at best and portions were poor for the price.
Biggest issue was the gents. Toilet seat has come off and is just placed on the floor next to it. It’s a 10 minute job to replace it and costs less than the fish and chips we paid for. Gives the impression revenue is more important than facilities.
