Food was OK but certainly not as good as it was some years ago. However, the staff were very friendly and the service was prompt.

The most perfect plate of food I’ve had in a long time. Braised beef to perfection. Red wine jus to die for. Creamy buttery mash and veggies with just the right amount of bite. Delicious. Excellent service and beautiful cozy interior.

We ordered two vegan main courses: the vegetable Thai curry and the vegetable stir-fry. Both dishes were flavorful and satisfying. Highly recommended for vegan options!

Friendly, lovely rooms and food and great service - that sums up Keenan’s. From check in to breakfast, we really enjoyed our stay. Definitely recommend if you are on the way west or looking for a getaway in the midlands. Well done to Barry, Annette and David and their colleagues.

I spent 5 nights here, 30 May to 3 June 24, to manage my mother's burial in neighouring Longford County. It was a random choice because I couldn't get my dates at a large hotel in Longford town where my sister was staying, which was only c6 miles away. I am so glad I chose Keenans. The location is great - it IS on the banks of the River Shannon and my balcony room gave me awesome views every morning and evening (TBF I had great weather). But you will need transport, unless you plan on cycling or walking - which the whole area is geared up for - it is mainly flat. The staff were excellent, nothing was too much trouble. I won't mention names but B**** helped me out of a particular bind (thank you B x). Beautiful place and surroundings! You do need to book for the restaurant because during my stay it was chocka every evening. But if you want to go large there is the Shannon Bar across the road, which is a pub which does more pub-like food and when I was there had a lot of music on - which was fine. The room was excellent - definitely 4-star. I am so glad I stayed here - the area is quiet and tranquil. There is a lock witin 200m and lots of plesure/leisure boats. Nothing high-rise. The food is great - definitely gourmet, and the breakfast was too much! This is not a Club 18-30, it is quiet and cultured. It is truly in a beautiful part of the world! Thank you Keenans.
