A Stay of Contrasts:
Charming Grounds & Great Amenities, But Modernization is Crucial
My recent 8-night stay at this hotel with my kids offered a mix of delightful highs and disappointing lows. Without a doubt, the location is nice, situated just outside of Naas.
The grounds & gardens are truly beautiful, providing a serene and picturesque backdrop, and the pool and gym facilities are good, offering excellent options for relaxation and exercise.
Adding to the positive aspects, the staff were excellent, consistently providing attentive and friendly service throughout our stay.
However, these considerable strengths were unfortunately overshadowed by several significant issues.
It's important to note that a car is definitely needed, as there's no shuttle bus service available.
More critically, the hotel urgently needs modernization and renovation. The rooms are poorly equipped, lacking basic amenities like a minibar or fridge, which is a considerable oversight in a hotel of this caliber.
Beyond the comfort issues, there were serious concerns about poor security overall. For example, I frequently observed ground floor fire exits left open overnight, which is a major safety concern.
The first issue I mentioned in my previous feedback also persisted: disruptive noise from wedding parties, which continued loudly until 2 AM on multiple nights. This made it extremely difficult to get a good night's sleep, severely impacting the relaxation I sought.
The second, and perhaps more concerning, problem was the state of the breakfast room. I consistently encountered dirty and unhygienic glassware, crockery, and cutlery. This is a basic expectation for any hotel, and its absence was quite off-putting.
What compounded these issues was the lack of any discernible reaction to my complaints. Despite raising these points, I saw no improvement, which was frustrating and diminished my overall confidence in the hotel's commitment to guest satisfaction.
Summary:
While the beautiful setting, great amenities, and wonderful staff are definite draws, the unresolved issues with noise, hygiene, outdated rooms, and significant security concerns, coupled with the apparent disregard for guest feedback, make it difficult to wholeheartedly recommend this hotel. It's a shame, as with some attention to these critical areas, it could truly be an exceptional experience.

Killashee Hotel is a lovely building in a beautiful setting. However, the afternoon tea was only OK. Nothing in particular was bad or good, there was just nothing special about it (apart from the occasion we were celebrating). Service was good.
