Lantern Chinese Restaurant in Ballina

We got a take out, lovely chicken chow mein, beautiful spring rolls, great window service when you order over the phone. Everything super 👌 we got all for a family of 6 for around 50e.

Completely agree as others have said that this place is living on reputation. The dry hot and spicy from the one I remember 10+ years ago is a shadow to what you get now. It usually tastes bland, soggy, chewy meat and often is falling apart but have noticed its a bit better when they first open at 5pm or mid week indicating to me they cook in batch’s during busy times and keep it heated for too long. Wings in dromore west which I have heard is ran by an old employee of the lantern is the most similar to the old recipe (but a bit sweeter) but still nothing compared to the one I remember. Update: The dry hot and spicy has been a lot better lately and I really hope it stays 🙏 reminds me of how it used to be. Really would like for the restaurant to open again.
