I don't usually review many places but I really loved my experience here.
My friends brought me to Lekker yesterday. I've had plenty of SA food over the years, being lucky enough to have been invited to many Braais over the years and I was excited to try more dishes.
We went in and were greeted by a hilarious host, very charming and lovely. When I asked for the Bunny Chow, I was asked if I would like it spicy, which is always a great request. I said yes and she had a look of quiet approval.
When it came out, the presentation was amazing, the hollowed out loaf of absolutely incredible bread that I've never had before, was stuffed with the best beef curry I've ever tasted. Rich, full of wonderful seasonings and coupled with potatoes that were perfectly cooked. Beautiful.
As we were paying I saw all the Parisian style pastries that blow Irish baked goods out of the water. I had to grab a few. A class Bailey's cheesecake pattiserie.
What a wonderfully strange, incredible addition to the town. A South African, specifically Durban-Indian fusion with a Parisian Pattiserie section. Amazing. It's a shame it's a bit of a drive away from me, but I'll 100% be back. Thank you.

Popped in for a quick bite. The sausage rolls were delicious - flaky pastry, nice carmalized onion type relish, nice sausage itself. Got the 4 for 5€ deal, warmed. I couldn’t skip on a sweet treat for a few more quid - picked up a huge palmier (broke in half in my photo) that was light and buttery; the chocolate chip cookie was massive and my husband raved about it when I got it home.

Well worth a detour to visit one of Thomastown's foodie hotspots! A lovely fusion of South African & French, I'm still working my way through their various culinary delights, so waited a while before giving a review! Their daily lunch specials are always worth a try, and as with everything else on their menu, it is all made from scratch, clearly with high quality ingredients, given the flavours they manage to achieve.
The highlight for me however, has to be the exquisitely layered & flaky pastries, by far the best I've had anywhere!!..including France!!!
Service is always so friendly & attentive, and Julien & Ashika are always so warm & welcoming, with a clear passion for what they do!
Don't be put off by the slightly underwhelming exterior...I for one am very happy they found Thomastown!! After seeing what they turned out for a one-off Fathers Day full Lunch this year, I'm hoping that it's a case of watch this space, with even more to come from them!...No pressure guys!!! Congrats on your recent Blas na hÉireann awards too!!

An absolute gem to have locally and recommend it to anyone. The meals and the pastries and bread are incredibly good. The chakalaka and the vegetarian breakfast, brownies and vanilla cookies are my absolute favourites.
