L'escale in Schull

I can't comment on the burger and fish and chip sector, if that's your thing maybe this isn't your sort of place. If you like fresh shellfish then this is worth visiting. It's really basic, order at the counter and wait for your buzzer to go and collect. We had a seafood platter, oysters were excellent, good prawns and crab and lobster fine. Not amazing and missing a few details, but overall at around £40/person including a bottle of wine I think this ok for Schull where most of the food is pub grub. The owner is French but has lived here for 44 years. He was friendly to us. I suspect the main business is the fish preparation for other businesses and the counter where they sell produce. Just go with the understanding it's all very basic and you might be surprised with some delicious fresh shellfish.

Basic self service restaurant, but good choice of food. Not only seafood if you are with someone who doesn't eat seafood. The seafood is good, but literally seafood & french fries is all that is on the plate. Dessert crepes with origional fillings as well as some interesting ice cream flavors available nearby too. Not sure if it is part of L'Escale are not, but I will be back for their After Eight Ice cream.

no fuss seafood shack, perfect blend of Irish & Gallic- great set-up. Genuine Dublin Bay prawns/Langoustines, a great treat. The dessert counter a winner with the kids, and adults alike. Catered to our large group with ease, will be back. So great to see a 'fish and chips' elevated to something more.

Must go. The food is some of the best in Ireland. The rating does not represent the quality of food or the restaurant. They don’t deserve such a low score.
