24/03/2024: We had a mixed experience at McCaffrey's but I think it's only fair to talk about that so they can aim to be better in the future. When we arrived we noticed the very cozy, awesome decor and had the feeling we made the right choice to come there. Unfortunately this was the only highlight of our visit. We were greeted by a tight lipped man who assigned us some seats grudgingly. We had the feeling that he must have been very busy, because all of the staff was rushing around with serious faces like being haunted from one place to another. It was really weird because the restaurant didn't feel busy at all and the guests all seemed very relaxed as well. This didn't stop us from ordering and we got the Cauliflower buffalo wings as a starter (didn't look nice, but tasted quite good). As mains we had the vegan impossible burger (incredibly dry and not very good unfortunately) and the 10 oz steak with mash. I ordered it rare, but I got it more like medium/well done. Things like that can happen though and I wanted to let the staff know, so they can send some feedback to the kitchen so they are aware next time. We had no staff attending us in a while though and we were half through the meal when our server asked in passing if everything was okay. I started by saying 'Yes, but...' He was gone after the first word and he didn't even hear the 'but'-part anymore. At that point we decided that we'd just finish up and leave, because we felt we were an inconvenience to the staff. The final interaction with the staff was us paying our bill and while handing the cash and tip I was asked 'Do you need any change?' and my answer was 'No, thank you for everything.' She was gone with the money after the 'No' and never heard my 'thank you' neither. It hurts me to leave a review like that, but I think this establishment could be so much better if the attitude towards the guests would change. I think we exchanged maybe 20 words with the people working there and I really don't think we did anything to anger the staff. It feels like the attitude to the other guests was similar and we never saw any of the servers smile (neither at the guests or each other). Maybe something bad happened that day, that caused the foul mood with the people working there. I just don't know, but we haven't felt less welcome anywhere in a long time, so we probably won't be back. I am sorry.
