Busy place with great breakfasts, for the hungry! Pleasant staff and quick service. Nice lunch menu too.

So, it's the only option for lunch in a town with a harbor. It wasn't exactly picturesque, you sit outside with a view of the parking lot and in the background an industrial, probably fishing harbor. So what? The service is pleasant, they keep asking, until we finally managed to order fish soup, crab sandwiches and fried fish fingers. Yes, everything is delicious, at a good price (except for cider for 7.50 EUR), but the selection puts this establishment at the level of a very good bistro. However, the lunch is good and the journey further west of the peninsula can continue.

We ate lunch at this restaurant. The staff is very friendly. The food is excellent. We had the haddock meunière. A real treat. A generous and well-presented dish. A highly recommended place.

Nice corner cafe. We stopped for lunch on our Ring of Beara tour. The Cajun chicken sandwich was tasty. Just chicken in a roll, but a little spice was nice. Other sandwiches we had looks good too.

Murphy's Restaurant

13/10/2025: My husband and I had a fabulous dinner at Murphy’s Restaurant in Castletownbere. We started with an excellent prawns and chorizo appetizer and then had the duck dinner and the leg of lamb dinner. We finished with the pavlova. Each dinner had plentiful sides of potatoes, carrots, parsnips, green beans and red cabbage. Everything was fresh, abundant and delicious. Service was very good. We had a lovely chat with the 3rd generation chef/owner who not only cooked a great meal but also made some nice recommendations for our trip. We very highly recommend Murphy’s to everyone coming to the Beara Peninsula.
28/09/2025: Fantastic food, got lots of meals as takeaway to Berehaven Lodges. great service too.
