Very impressed with this place. The portions are very generous, food is piping hot. Service is quick. They leave you alone to enjoy your good and know when it's time to attend to your table.

Unfortunately, we may have caught them on a not so great day. Brought to our table and waited 10 minutes to be handed menus. The restaurant was not busy at this point in time. Another table was observed requesting menus when they had arrived also. Upon drinks requests, my partner was handed a bottle of Chinese beer. She had to request the glass. On to starters, the chicken and sweetcorn soup was very good. However, my partner was handed vegetable pancake rolls which felt were missing chilli sauce as is standard in most other places of this cuisine. Things didn't get better for her going forward. Enter mains. Her sweet chilli chicken was very difficult to cut into and extremely dry. After trying it myself, I can confirm that this dish was definitely reheated from the day/night before. On a positive note, my baked chicken in Portuguese sauce was fantastic. Noodles and chips were also very good. Unfortunately, my partner's experience may be the reason we do not return here again.

It was a full hour from arrival to getting the food. The smallest bottle of beer was €6.50 beer which probably cast them a quid or so which then starts to look like a rip off. Delaying food probably sells more alcohol. The sweet and sour chicken was as chewing as octopus but I ordered chicken. My girlfriend couldn't be confident that her teeth would last so she took my chicken with garlic and spring onions which was lovely and soft and arrived sizzling in an iron dish which was great. I don't like sweet and sour but, hey ho! She was really annoyed at the delay so I chewed the chicken! The fried rice was good enough as were the chips. The mints should have been laced with a benzodiazipine anxiolytic! The native woman host was nice. The man was friendly but less interactive. They seemed stressed but there was no queue but perhaps takeaway orders were a factor. To summarise, One chicken dish lovely they other a dental liability. The atmosphere was tense and neglectful. Add a portion af rice and chips and pay €65 which is 2 weeks grocery shopping for me. It reminds me why I seldom eat out!!

Mala Asian Street Food

25/05/2025: First time to get food from Mala. I was hoping to be impressed. Unfortunately, I wasn't. The overall experience was OK. The dishes lacked depth of flavour and missing umami in most dishes. The udon noodle dish was very one dimensional. Same for most of the other dishes. The chicken in each dish again was very bland and lacked that umami flavour. I never order boiled rice from a Chinese takeaway style because it's usually stoggy, overcooked and flavourless. I saw on the menu they had boiled Jasmine rice, which is a nice option and so I went with that. What I got was NOT Jasmine rice but th usual low quality, stoggy, bland rice. I asked for Extra EXTRA spicy and I got mild. To be fair they did put a lot of fresh chillies in but these weren't very spicy either. The delivery arrived in a very fancy bag, with fancy food containers. Personally I would prefer the kitchen to put the extra money, effort and time into their ingredients, sauces and overall dishes, rather than frills which add nothing to the food and thats what you should want....the food to spot on. Overall, nothing exciting or enticing to return. They seem to be afraid to be aggressive with their flavours and that for me is what's missing from most restaurants/takeaways.
25/02/2025: Best asian food in Drogheda by a mile... good quality food with plenty of flavor. delivery is fast. a little bit more expensive than other take aways but the portions are huge and worth every cent
