My review is about the restaurant.
Because it was so busy, the four of us got a table at 5:30 PM.
I'm not sure if the booking situation is due solely to the quality of the restaurant or to the fact that there are hardly any alternatives nearby.
Probably both.
From the outside, an inconspicuous building located on the pier, but inside, a great atmosphere.
The food was excellent, as was the young service.
Despite being constantly busy, the atmosphere in the restaurant was very relaxed and pleasant.
We made another reservation for the next day, but this time later.
The second visit the following day wasn't quite as good – it was more like a mass-produced restaurant with a fairly limited menu.
But I definitely recommend it for a visit.

A good hotel with a restaurant, bar, open and semi-closed areas. Good parking inside and nearby on the embankment. There is almost everything for a good, active holiday.
Nice helpful staff, trying to help even in small things, and this is especially valuable.
It is good to have breakfast with a view of the bay. It is wonderful, especially in good weather. Even in bad weather you can sit by the fireplace and have a good rest.
Other cafes and restaurants, pubs, shops, a gas station and much more are within walking distance.
In addition to walking along the two piers (yacht clubs), you can walk along the embankment. There is a small bird park-reserve literally a hundred meters away. A very interesting path from the school to the art college. There are many other pedestrian roads and paths. At 3.5 km. an interesting set of attractions: a bird show, a cave, a cheese factory.

Beautiful small hotel with wonderful view of the water. Nice bar and the restaurant has an interesting menu. Rooms are large enough and there is a lift if you're in the upper floor.

Arrived for an unplanned dinner out on a glorious Friday evening. Asked had we a reservation but we didn’t & they kindly gave us a choice of where to sit.
Had the nicest cold beer - kudos for having the right temperature. not many bars can do this & you didn’t it 100%.
Fish burger was all fresh fish
Chips were lovely & correct amount of salt on them
Fish & chip dish went down a treat & there was silence while it was being ate as it was so good
Keep up the good work & look forward to getting the chance to return

We had made a reservation in advance, as it had been recommended. The restaurant was busy, and we received a friendly welcome. The menu was well-organized and included regional dishes. The staff was helpful and courteous.

Didn't stay but got a takeaway crab sandwich and the clams starter. Eaten here a few times now and I can't recommend it enough...prices can seem on the high side but the food that comes out is always delicious and filling.

The Monks is in a fabulous location, beside the sea in North Clare. Friendly greeting and brought to our table within minutes. Four of our group had the chowder, it was absolutely delicious and served with lovely brown bread. The mains were a bit disappointing. Two of us ordered the halibut but we were informed it was no longer available. I had pan-fried salmon instead, and I wouldn't have it again. It came on a bed of green! Peas, beans, broccoli accompanied with mashed potatoes. Not at all nice. The other members of the group agreed that the main courses need to step up. We didn't have dessert. As I said the location and chowder fabulous.
