Monks Ballyvaughan in Ballyvaughan

Did not stay eaten a few times its amazing place

While enjoying a 2-night stay we ate in the restaurants both nights. We'd often spoken of the seafood chowder since staying in Ballyvaughan at Easter 1991. Unfortunately it didn't live up to expectations this time. Too thick with a small amount of fish. We were also a bit disappointed in the mussels and the clams but OH enjoyed the fish pie. PS breakfast was good and very generous! With lovely seaview to enjoy too.

I only stopped here for dinner on my way back from The Cliffs of Moher but let me tell you, there wasn't a THING they brought out that wasn't absolutely FANTASTIC. I'm generally not a fish person but this fish pie could raise the dead to slap your mama it was SO GOOD. It's classy, quiet, affordable with great service! What a find!

Had lunch there with friends on December 27th. Absolutely amazing meal and wonderful staff.

Beef steak - wow, fresh oysters served on sea algae, dip with finely chopped red onion. The fish soup is tasty, although too thick for me.

What a place! We stayed in December for 3 nights as part of a few weeks travelling around Ireland. This was by far our favourite stay of the trip, and one of best places we've been in many years of recent travel. Wonderfully warm hospitality, Susan was fantastic, she made us and our little dog Geoffrey feel very welcome & we loved meeting Alfie. Spotlessly clean throughout and a real high end feel. We stayed as part of a package with dinner, bed & breakfast included. Every meal we had was incredible, we still talk about the bread! We're already looking forward to returning next year.

Monks restaurant is incredible! We were recommended it by our airbnb host and it was possibly the best restaurant we visited on the entire trip. Authentic, great prices, and amazing food. Absolutely worth the visit.

Monk's delivers expertly on two levels. First, they are a fantastic restaurant, featuring some of the best seafood you will find anywhere. Second, they have that cozy feel of an authentic Irish pub. The restaurant is light and airy, with several open spaces in which to dine. We enjoyed great customer service as well. Monk's is a true winner!
