The monkfish was great. Mr John Crow played the guitar like no other with fingertip skills and great feeling for tempo, volume and choice of music. He made our day end in the best of manners. 😃👍

I ordered a takeaway lunch there. It was relatively expensive, but the food was worth it. What was completely unacceptable was that the food had been sitting at the counter for 10 minutes before the employee decided to hand it to me.

Had a quick stop here on our way through carrick on Shannon, lovely old restaurant. We had 3 starters, and no mains. We had a beautiful goats cheese and honey dish topped with lovely walnuts. We had a tomato based chowder which was unique, but my preference would have been a traditional creamy base. The monkfish cheeks and chorizo has a Mediterranean style to it with nice toasted sourdough, really tasty dish. We were served bread at the beginning and with the food, was fresh and homemade. Really recommend this lovely spot in the picturesque village of carrick on Shannon.

Super staff and service backed up by an incredible kitchen.
We had 1 x goat cheese and 1 x monkfish starters followed by a monkfish main and a wild Hake main.
Stunning.

Visited at the weekend & enjoyed superb food. It was Saturday night & the place was buzzing. It was definitely a full house but the staff were attentive & super friendly.
We enjoyed two starters, goats cheese, made locally I believe, & some monkfish cheeks with a fennel salami. Both were delicious, the monkfish especially moreish. Hope it’s on the menu next time I visit!
Opted for the pork belly & a vegetarian main course. Husband gave his pork belly the thumbs up. My veggie dish was also a winner. A winning combination of textures & flavours.
Didn’t have room for dessert this time round. But spotted the doughnuts going to another table & again, hope they’re still there next time we visit!
Nice selection of wines, the white we chose, Austrian I believe, went down a treat.
No hesitation recommending The Oarsman.

Absolutely delicious! My daughter and I had the hake, which was delicious! Comes with an assortment of cooked veggies, small potatoes and mashed as well. Would eat there again and again.
