I am a new resident to Bantry but I have visited this restaurant many times in the past, especially for breakfast. I am now a resident of Bantry and I have had occasion to visit the restaurant with my nephew and his wife from New York. I my guests and I were well looked after by the owners and their wonderful staff. O,Connors Seafood Restaurant serve all that is fresh and local with a highly trained staff and an outstanding chef. If you visit Bantry, you should not leave without a visit here.

Great place to meet for a coffee, breakfast, lunch and dinner. All of which have a great sellection and the food is so fresh, flavoursome and nice portions. The owner is so nice, couldn't be more helpful, young and full of enthusiasm treating everyone that comes through the door like an friend. I cannot recommend this place enough.

We were treated to a pleasant meal in comfortable surroundings and looked after by attentive, polite and friendly servers for whom no request was to much bother, yet remained unobtrusive to our dining experience.
I commenced with perfectly cooked calamari, something which is not always the case in every restaurant, whilst another of our party ordered the seafood chowder on the recommendation of the server, which was every bit as flavorsome as was promised. One slight negative is that the side salad was not very nice and more resembled the tinned Heinz salad from my young days than a freshly dressed salad bringing an extra dimension to the dish.
For mains, 2 of our party ordered scampi, which was not on the menu, but the restaurant kindly obliged, whilst the third member of our group order the burger. The scampi whilst imported was well cooked and flavorsome, however again the side salad was a bit of a let down and the chips could have done with a few more minutes in the fryer.
The burger was served in a charcoal bun which was changed out without fuss on the request of the diner, however the burger was served simply with fries and was crying out for a nice chunky coleslaw or some other such accompaniment to elevate the dish.
All in all we enjoyed our dining experience, of a pleasant meal which ate well, however the accompaniment could have been better thought out. The service which is always a lasting memory of any meal was superb.

We were staying at the excellent Maritime Hotel nearby.
O'Connor's is a friendly, informal restaurant with a good menu.
When we visited there were two additional specials, cod and ribeye.
We both opted for the ribeye, abandoning all vows to stick to seafood exclusively on this trip.
The ribeye was excellent. As were the chips and the mushrooms.
For starters we had smoked salmon for my companion and the chowder for me.
Both were meals in themselves. Absolutely delicious.
They have a Killarney Brewery stout, which made a nice change from the blander Guinness or Murphy's.
The staff are really friendly and efficient. Every time the kitchen called “Service!”, the staff immediately stopped whatever they were doing to serve the dishes.
We'll be back!
